Dead Island

Dead Island

View Stats:
Trying to find Rare ( purple ) and / or Legendary ( orange ) weapons.
Does anyone know how the loot works in the final version? ( Ver 1.3 ) I tried everything. Perna's Better Loot skill at Level 3. Ram and / or Butcher farming. Able to open Level 3 locked metal boxes. I tried all these methods.

The Dead Island wikia said Ram or Butcher farming was the best percent. But I have killed Butchers for about 2 hours now. And not even a single decent weapon off of these enemies. I also tried Level 3 locked metal boxes as well. Virtually nothing. Does anyone here know the numbers for loot in this game? I feel most of the information out there is based off the older versions of Dead Island. And solid info for 1.3 would be appretiated. Thank You.

I encountered the most rare/leg weapons on my second playthrough with the same character. meaning beat the game then start a new campaign with that same character. I'm lvl 40 and i'm running into Orange alot.

I really dont think one can rely on statistics for finding weapons .
Drops seem totally random , I still have a lot to find after two years .
Some people claim to have a certain method , based on time but seems tedious .
The most certain way I know of is modding the game otherwise just check everything .

OK. Thank you for taking the time to answer. I will keep at it then.

If your talking specifically named ones from places other than quests, no idea. Genericly named orange and purple thou (Heavy Hammer or such and such rifle), I find most often at merchants.

Thanks. Will try. I know some spots where you can re - load the game. And be near Level 3 locked metal boxes. I have done this already.... but it was boring to say the least.

Yea I know about merchants. But it's not always a sure thing. I just saw a Legendary ( orange ) shotgun I could buy from the merchant at the Laboratory in the Jungle. Funny thing was..... that Legendary shotgun was worst than my Uncommon ( green ) shotgun.

Try level up a bit, to 40 at most.

When I reached level 40, I found like 4 or 5 legendary weapons in between 35 to 40.

Golden weapons you can buy arent really legendary .
Just common stuff that breaks apart easily and way too expensive .
Even the true legendaries you receive for doing quests or randomly find might have terrible stats .

Actually. I found some quest weapons to be pretty decent. The Tijuana Machete has medium power & good durability. Nearby, that blue Wakizashi from Sebastian's quest line has very good power, but lame durability.

I grinded a pretty good 1 - handed blunt baton that is Legendary. I will definately give it to my Sam B character.

If you are at 60 I might have some legendaries for you if like .
Havent got all of them though but several good ones .

Well Thank You for the good gesture. However. I have heard & seen videos of people glicthing in multi - player & losing their items. Something I don't want to do & negatively affect another person. At this time Nesferatu, I think I will see how I fare with the quest reward weapons. I am 1 - shoting most Walkers & Infected. Which is good enough I.M.O.

Was just a thought but one word of warning , losing weapons for no reasons at all happens in SP too .
I tend to make copies before I go to a workbench , just to be on the safe side .

Yes I have had this happen. And it always happened when I threw a weapon at a enemy. Have not lost any from using the weapon like usual. I.E melee combat.

Here's a guide from a guy called Lestat who has done testing on orange weapons ( guns ) vs all other colour weapon types, and it seems that all orange weapons ( guns ) have a hidden stat thats not displayed on them in the inventory screen, meaning that orange weapons ( guns ) are superiour in everyway to there other coloured counterparts, so dont be vendoring your orange guns just yet.

Thanks Sunabozu. I actually have seen that thread aleady. And have followed it as well. In any case, I have no problems securing a good firearm. It's the sharp & melee weapons I am trying for. I guess I should have made it more clear at the start of this thread.
