Does anyone know about this file?

My game is crashing, has been for a long time, I don't even get to open it. So, I looked at the event viewer and the file it says isn't working is filesystem_x86_rwdi.dll.
Does anyone know where I can find or know anything about this file?

Have you tried deleting it and then verifying your game cache to re-download it?

I just did and it offered some interesting results. Rather than the normal '1 file has failed to validate' it said that there were 2 files that had failed...
So it must be something else, I'll check the event logs again.

hmm my best bet would be to ask on gamebanana there is programmers and developers just hope they see your msg and knows a fix (techland is dead sadly)

I'm having a similar problem. I thought it was because I'm not running as an admin but it is because my profile uses folder redirection and has a UNC path. I'm looking for a developer comment to see if they have any plan on fixing it.

Symptom:

Looks like Dead Island is another Dead Space 2, where it would crash with the above error whenever you run the game from a Domain account (possibly due to My Documents Folder Redirection policy)

(My Documents is redirected to \\server\userprofiles$\My Documents)

Work around:

Running Dead Island as a local user works fine.

What can be done to fix this problem?

I can't just keep switching out of my normal account just to play this game.

Can a patch be released for this issue?

I'm getting a similar crash just trying to launch the game from a non-admin domain-based account with folder re-direction. I see the dead island name in red lettering with the black background and the palm tree in between the two words on a splash screen then I get the WerFault.exe window:

Hi man, I saw you post in a similar thread ages ago, I thought you said the fix worked. It did for me.
I can link the thread again if you'd like :)
It talks about making sybolic links that are super great for this.
