When and how do I get access to the Hotel?

Kind of weird that I haven't found an answer to this, which makes me think I am missing something obvious. Apparently you can go back to the hotel at some point and loot it. But if you wait to long there is a point where you can't. I never found info on when you can enter it and how, though.

I've been all around it and found no doors yet, although I kind of get sidetracked by zombies and Thugs. I know some of the buildings I could not find a way into magically opened after some quest completed, so I was thinking maybe that's what has to happen.

I think you can only enter into the Hotel at a main quest only.

main quest at chapter 3 you can go into the hotel..but after that you can't go back in..as in you can only go in and explore the starting area,you can't go further into the kitchen or whatever they call it to loot

chapter 3 is the part where sinamoi ask you to go find the damned truck at the hotel parking lot
