2: 3 player co-op isn't that bad. You get used to it.
3: It's not even the same developer as Dead Island, so there's that..
Dead Island 2 have had 3 or more dev studios trying to develop it over the past few years with the current developer being the only one sticking with it. Of course there's going to be changes made to the game both mechanical wise as well as feature wise.
Coming in here, whining about it is kind of pathetic since as i said, it's not even the same developer..
Of course it's about the money, hence it's about the cut they take from the developers.
Developers gain more from releasing their game exclusively on whichever platform takes the least amount of money from each sale they make.
That way they can sell as much as possible during their exclusivity contract and actually make more money.
Valve is known for taking a massive cut from the developers, even indie developers.
Might want to read up a bit on what that actually means.
Claiming they bribed them is kind of ridiculous. If you don't know anything, don't post anything.
Really man they went exclusive because THEY DID PAY THEM UPFRONT! Vast majority of these Epic Exclusives are PAID EXCLUSIVES because otherwise they would make no money because what good is selling 10k with a 12% cut when they could release on steam also and sell 500k+ at 30% cut.
Where is your source for this claim?

Yeah these are 2 years old however Metro Exodus was published by Deep Silver and every single game published by them since Metro Exodus has went epic exclusive. Almost every single exclusive has made epic lose money and the only reason the storefront is staying afloat is because of the fortnite kiddies and fortnite revenue is starting to drop.
The information isn't even related to Dead Island 2. I asked for a source for this specific claim, not about other stuff not even related to it.
Why complain about Epic when they are losing money from exclusive rights?
Yes, they make deals with publishers, devs and their parent companies. It's common in the industry and have been for a long time.
However, it is mostly only a temporary solution for Epic, so they can grow their player base as well. Once they have a better foothold, they'll most likely increase their cut as well.
Sony have been doing this for decades now, but they're worse, as they literally pay off (bribe) and force developers to only release their products on Playstation, period, through clauses in their contracts. Sony are the definition of extortionists..
At least Epic only have exclusivity rights for only 6-12 months and no shady contracts, plus the developers and publishers benefit majorly from this deal, since there's a no-cost service that helps developers and publishers put their games on the Epic store.
Developers using their Unreal Engine gets additional bonuses as well.
Epic typically pays around 10 million USD for exclusivity rights, and the exclusivity typically last for 6-12 months depending on how popular the franchise is.
Now, you claimed first that they've bribed the developer and publisher of Dead Island 2, but this is wrong. As i said, these deals are common in the industry these days.
They didn't have to bribe them, because the deal is too good for most developers to pass up. Valve takes the biggest cut out of all the platforms and have no special benefits for any developer to speak of.
I do have to point out some things.
1: It's not the developer taking that money, but the parent company, unless it's an indie company.
2: They make plenty of money off of each sale as more and more people use Epic Games Store these days, namely because of the exclusivity.
They do lose money, but that's to be expected when starting a new gaming platform. EGS is pretty new and most would say it's in its infant state and evolving.
Once they get a foothold, they'll increase their cuts and money will start pouring in.
At least they use their money correctly. They take from one product and invest in a new product while the other product keep making them money.
The proof of this game being a paid exclusive is the fact every single DeepSilver game since the first exclusive has been exclusive on epic. Yeah the EGS is growing very slowly but most of the people using it only use it for the free games. You say epic is using their money correctly? Their storefront is one of the most basic and featureless stores around because they focus more on exclusives. People wouldn't be so anal about EGS if epic would've spent that money on making a robust storefront instead of spending that money on exclusives. You say they help developers, must I mention what happened to Darq. Also Sony can goto hell. They want to whine about the Microsoft/Activision merger because they might pull CoD off of Playstation when they constantly enter exclusive deals with companies just to sabotage the xbox.
I'll wait to sell. HOping it has the basics, like what this game had.. Not that "dying light" sorta of combat, which if found boring.
I do like how people try to bring in politics/nitpick over a game, its funny.. meanwhile people on consoles be like whats politics, as they can't really argue, unlike steam..
Yeah but nobody goes on Epic cause it's garbage chinese spyware with no forums or anything that steam has. Steam has 20x the amount of people. "Saving" money by going to Epic they LOST money by going to Epic. They should have just taken the pay cut Steam takes and they would have made WAAAY more.
Developers are dumb as hell.
Also it's an Unreal Engine game so yeah, taking more profits > paying greedy corpos. Sucks for the players but they didn't spend sleepless development nights for YOU, we all have bills to pay.
Also exclusivity in general is bad, paid for is worse.
