Windows 10 Black Screen Fix For Dead Island

Just like tons of other games (including vanilla Skyrim) Dead Island can not load all requird assets while installed on any drive other then C:\.

1. Simply go to your steam library right-click on Dead Island and open properties.
2. Navigate to the "Local Files" tab.
3. Click "Move Install Folder" and select your Steam Apps folder on your C:\ Drive (What Windows and Steam is installed on).

There you go just start the game and blam your done and well on your way.

Some other dude posted a "Windows 10 fix" that involved downloading a .dll but that didn't work.
Another thing your may need to do is go to c:\users\"yourUserName"\Documents\DeadIsland\out\Settings\ and delete the file named "video".
the game will recreate it on next launch, it only saves the screen config so don't worry.

I have windows 7 ultimate and i cant fix this....tried everything from the possible bugs post, changing files, compatibility, run as adm...

I had that problem too out of the blue on win 7 it did start though you have to wait about twice as long for the black screen to go away.

Since I swapped to win 10 it's been fine for the last couple yrs or more, I prefer win 10 over win 7.

SO THIS IS WHY ITS ON SALE ?
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥... i cant play because screen is black.
i deleted video.scr still the same thing.
i cant switch the directory to C: all my steam games are on D:
this is so frustrating, when i ALT TAB to it i can basically see the menu but then when you click on it it goes full screen and black agian. its having some issues with FULL SCREEN.

The version on sale it's not the same as this one. This version has been d-listed since 2016.
