GAME NOT OPENING
Hi.. Please help me with this game! I am getting an error saying.. Bad image.. C;\windows\system32\d2dx9.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error.. Error status 0xc000012f... I have checked all over and cant find a fix for it that works

Obviously... but it has nothing to do with the windows version, just a broken/incorrect dll being loaded, the same error can occur on windows 7/8 as well.. using google it only takes a minute to check that.






First i recommend running the directx package that came with dead island, you can find it here:

Steam\steamapps\common\Dead Island\Redist\DirectX

If that doesnt fix it the next thing i'd try is to manually load the specified DLL.
You can do this by downloading it online and dropping it in the dead island game folder (Steam\steamapps\common\Dead Island)

Not sure if the game requires the 32 or the 64bit version.

I will also upload my own version of the file from my windows 10 X64 version, the game is working fine here so that one should work as well.


Step1:

You're missing Visual C++.

Download and install both x86 and x64.

I downloaded and installed both.. Still getting the same error.

What OS are you running ?

If you can, I would try to install all the important Windows updates. As you could be missing important files that's preventing the game from starting.

I am using windows 10.. It is not an illegal version.. It is just not activated.. Fully updated though.. Can it be that I am missing stuff due to it not being activated?

If it's not activated that means you can't install updates. Do you think you could screenshot the error that the game prompts when it's attempting to open ?

That is the error I get.. I get the same error with the game ( World of Tanks ).. Please help me with this.. No idea what to do anymore..

I decided to look a bit more into this issue you're having. It looks like you have DirectX installed. But, the files could possibly be corrupted.

Do me a favor and reinstall DirectX using this download link and tell me what happens after you try to launch the game again.

Also, I don't know if you have an actual GPU or not. But, make sure your drivers for that are also up-to-date.
