Server still available?
Hello,
I was wondering if their servers are still online?
'cause I want to restart the game with friends (with GOTY edition, not the Definitive) and they'll not be happy if we can't play together :p
Thanks!

Servers isn't the thing that makes this game work bud, if they own Dead Island GOTY edition too so you are welcome to play with them! nothing can stop you I suppose.

Well we need the server to play online together (through internet, not LAN) no?

The game has Co-Op hosting system, no such thing as dedicated servers. You enter the game, random people or friends can join you depending the settings you've set and number of public/private slots you've allowed.

If you've set your game mode into Singleplayer then nobody can join you.

Also another thing that I have to mention, you can't play Co-Op with somebody who has Definitive edition unless you have Definitive edition as well, if you only own original game then you can only play with somebody who has original game.

This is why they've taken the GOTY edition :)

Yeah nah just host a game yourself - there aren't servers to begin with. When you're in game press 'esc' and look for the 'game lobby' option if you want to join your friends. Or just get them to send you an invite through steam. The same goes for them, so long as you set your game type to 'cooperative' under the 'online' tab in your options, anyone near you, friends included, should be okay to join.
Long story short, so long as you both have the GOTY edition, just send your friends an invite and you should be able to play. Have fun! :)
