Dead Island NO sound and stuck in Prologue.

Wanted to co-op dead island today with my brother, took the day off and all, but I can't play the game. I'm playing on Windows 10. I have souns when starting the game and menu has sound effects, But as soon as I start a new game, I have no sound when I'm playing.

I thought maybe I just need to get past the prologue, BUT the game doesn't continue in the prologue in the elevator. Door won't open and the guy talking to me through the camera is stuck on it's first sentence. At least I think, because I can't hear him, but the subtitles are stuck on the first sentence. The elevator door won't open

- I tried the Direct X fix (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2113737)
- I tried changing the fix for crackling/static by changing the Audio.scr file. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2101250
- I tried steam properties verify integrity of game files (one was missing, but had been reacquired)
- Restarting game, Windows several times.
- Loading game and new game with different characters. But keep having no sound and stuck in prologue elevator.

I can't find any solution while googling, while my brother can play the game fine on Windows 8. Is Windows 10 the problem? Anyone else experiencing similar issues and has a fix?

I have windows 10 myself and I dont have any issues aside from the buggy mess that the game already is. Try verifying your game's caché , its probably just a file (or a couple) being corrupted. you do this by going to your library and once you select Dead Island, go to properties, local files, and then verify game cache.

When I mention the game is a buggy game, I mean it. Its great fun for that fact. Adds life to the game. Just crouch down in front of a white door in Moresby and walk into it. You'll see

Like I mentioned in the opening post, I did verify the game cache and to no avail. I re-installed the game too, and did the DX fix again, but same problem persists. I'm losing hope.

Like I mentioned in the opening post, I did verify the game cache and to no avail. I re-installed the game too, and did the DX fix again, but same problem persists. I'm losing hope.

Did you reinstall the game and DX fix after verifying the cache?

Yes I did. I got passed the prologue by playing on a different pc and then syncin saves. But Sound is still not working on Dead Island. So weird.

I mean the intro has sound and then the start menu has no music but sound effects on button press and then after that NO sound whatsoever.

My friend had the same issue. He fixed it by changing the game sound to stereo.

how did you change the game sound to stereo

i have the same problem starting cutsence has sound but after that no sound what so ever

I'm not at my pc at the moment but i guess in the settings and then under the tab sounds. You should find the settings in the menu of the game.
