silly question maybe, but what is 'dot' damage

for example, I get a power up sometimes 'dot damage 20%'
I feel i'm missing something here, but I just cant work out what it actually gives...

Hi zarker99!
It's an abbreviation for "damage over time". Towers like Flamer and Armor Smelter use this type of damage in addition for their normal damage, dealing damage for a short time after they hit the enemy.
