What do you mean by "this time" exactly?

But, yes we plan to remove the demo soon because it's quite old, and for now, we don't have time to update them, and we don't want to discourage players, because we have improved the game a lot over the past few years. Only after refreshing, we will probably upload them again :)

I thought some of you worked on another game recently, which also had its demo removed (last days of lazarus), but now that I looked it up, it might've been different people.

either way, I unwishlisted lazarus and many others because of demo removal and now did the same with this, not supporting such anti-consumer practices, demos shouldn't be removed. if it's good enough now, 3 weeks before release, it will be good enough after release too as a general idea of what the game is like. you could simply add a disclaimer and a list of improvements to the main menu or something until (if ever) you update it.

Yes we understand your point of view, but wit such a story based game, people more often unwishlist games because the demo is not too polished and they expect the game won't be good enough. We left the demo for so long only because that was our only chance to get to festivals. The full game is way better than the demo and people could be confused. The good news is that for now the demo is still available and we are going to disable it only for some time around release cause then we will probably release an Updated Fresh demo ;) We are not against players, we are just small developers and we have to be very careful with such a decision like leaving 2 years old unpolished demo for the Game Release time. But your opinion is very interesting point of view and we will ask more players about what they think and what we should do :) (Sorry for my language mistakes I'm writing thin after 16 hours of work, sharing the trailer, seending press emails etc)

you said 'probably' twice now and I've learned not to trust anything a developer (or anybody) says until it actually happens, so I'll remain skeptical. you have 3 weeks to patch up the demo but it doesn't have to be identical to the release version anyway, it's a demo, people can read (if there's anything to read) and understand that certain features are not there but they are in the full game.

I have the game ignored now but if I run into it down the road somehow and the demo's back permanently, I might give it (and you) another chance. have to make sure it works as it should before buying it, has to have saving anytime and other basic functionality. if the demo is good enough, it leads to an eventual (or rarely an immediate) purchase, if not, it leads to follow-up questions and I go from there.

1. Are you aware that the demo is still available? We just removed a huge button at the top, you could still download the demo by clicking the button on the right side of store? Or maybe you are not talking about our game but about Lazarus you mentioned.
2. Thanks but please be aware that we are two-person team, when on code and development of things like demos I work now on my own, so basically I would spend 3 weeks polishing the demo instead of spending that time on polishing the full game. Another thing is that demos are very often developed as separate applications to don't harm the main game when making changes etc. This is why we have to basically create totally new demo and it would basically take me 3 weeks. (Most crucial weeks before Release) Many devs mention about that. It is not so easy for tiny teams.
3. I respect your opinion, you are totally right, but I think there is a need to put some line between a two-person team like ours (Who invest everything they have and risk almost everything to complete the game) and a studio with 10 or more people. (not saying about 100+) For us polishing the full game is crucial and has the highest priority. I respect if you will decide unwishlist of course. That or another way your opinion is an important contribution for me.

Thanks for your opinion!

I am aware, that's why I said above that if a demo is good enough to be on the store page a couple weeks before release, when people might be trying it in bigger numbers with all the hype (as much as random obscure titles can get), then it should be good enough after release too. it's not about me not being able to try the game now but the principle of the thing and nobody being able to try the game after it's out, even though a demo build exists and was available for a year (or however long) right until release.

the small team excuse is just that. a single person can be very efficient and dedicated, a big team can be lazy and incompetent to the extreme and vice versa, 'we are just 2 people' doesn't mean a thing on its own. that's why I don't buy it when crucial features and functionality (again, saving anytime, rebindable controls, etc.) are missing and are blamed on this.

if there's still things to polish, do that, the full version obviously takes priority, but that doesn't mean the demo should be pulled the moment the game comes out. I get that you and other devs might be banking on people blindly buying and maybe forgetting to refund even if they don't like it, but that is also not cool.
