Ever17 next, please
Just like this game, 5pb. detains the publishing rights for the Infinity trilogy.

Why start from the last and worst game in series? Remember11 would be a better product to attract new readers.

What makes it the worst? lol There are other slow-pacing games being released on Steam today such as Umineko, Muv-Luv etc. Ever17 was released in 2002 and is still the 15th highest rated VN on VNDB. Also, it's not by any means the last in the Infinity franchise. Never7 was the first, Ever17 the second, and Remember11 the third, then come 12Riven and Code_18.

1. Ok Remember11 came later than Ever17. Good to know that series ended on a good note.
2. 12Riven and another one NEVER were part of infinity series. That mess is one of the reason why company died.
3. Ever17 is only ranked that well because it was one of the dozen games that got translated in that era. In that age you could count total number of english patched vns with you fingers. Let alone any non porn vn.
Ever17 story is just empty and void of any characters or logic right untill last route. Rest is just busy work of tolerating yet another hetaro loser on his quest to one of 2 waifus.
Second protag was way better but they took any chance for him to do anything interesting. He only existed to reveal few good lore twists.

Compare that to quality product like Remember11 or even route double.

I never felt heavily attached to any character from a Uchikoshi game in particular, due to his focus on narrative-driven stories. If you want characters with unique traits, I suggest you Danganronpa. This blandness never bothered me since real life people are bland as well, if not more. lol The writers were indeed inexperienced, but I fail to see how it lacked logic. Everything fits perfectly on the final route.

Remember 11 and 'Quality Product' in the same sentence is amazing.

I mean, man. I enjoyed that game as well, but we're literally talking about the game where the devs forgot the True Ending for the game so it never got added to future versions. Not to mention that it ends on a cliffhanger? The game is literally infamous for not having an ending.

At least Ever17 was complete.

Personally I got super attached to the cast of 999 especially Junpei and I am glad they gave him a voice in the re-release, added to him a lot.

My problem with Uchikoshi's characters is that every one of them is a walking Wikipedia, a tool for the plot-twist to work. There is nothing wrong with having more knowledge than the average person, but they are able to explain everything in thorough details. It feels too unnatural.

It seems to be an issue with Japanese media in general with heavy exposition dumps that feel like they're reading off of wikipedia entries, as you say, haha. Though some do it more gracefully than others.

While Ever17 is my favorite story of all time, I'd be afraid an Ever17 localization would use its botched remake instead of the brilliant original game. Remember11 would also be very interesting to see as an official release, and I think it might be easier for people to get into that than into Ever17.

KID died DURING the production of 12Riven, not afterwards; KID's death cannot be attributed to the commercial success of 12Riven or lack thereof. (They still managed to finish and release it due to publisher Cyberfront's support.)
