Good Company

Logistics in the new update is a buggy nightmare.
I have a Tinker Table that needs wood.
I have a Courier Pallet in the same building with two stacks of wood on it.
I have a shelf with a reserved slot for wood that has two wood in that slot.
I have a Logistics employee that's doing.... i have no flippin idea what he's doing. Not his job, that's for damn sure!

This is happening constantly, in multiple locations. It's also happening with couriers. It's causing shelves to get backed up, people to not craft, research to not be done, items to not sell, money to be lost.

I never had any of these problems with the old system, where I had to create the logistics connections myself. This update is massive step backwards. Can we get the old system back, please? That old system was unique and creative. This new system apparently doesn't know how to route on its own.

EDIT/UPDATE
After manually moving the wood to the shelf, now the logistics person won't move the metal!!!!!! What did you do to your game?!

Just fired all of the staff, and slowly started rehiring, hoping that maybe that would fix whatever is broken. NOPE! Couriers are not carrying anything between buildings/zones. Logistics guy I just hired is just standing around in a completely different building/zone than where he's assigned, with materials on the pallet in his zone needing to be moved.

This is just mind blowing.

I am having a similar issue with couriers for work zones. if my character is in a different building the new person goes to that place and not their work zone and will not move to their work zone all they do is stand there.. rather frustrating actually

yup it's a complete mess.. nothing works properly, and if you delete a shelf or something like that everyone just stands there doing nothing and you have to fire them and redo everything over.. I even had an employee walk out with one of my products lol.. Now they are stealing stuff!

Hi!

I'm sorry to hear you encounter such issues with the new update. We're continuously working on fixes for such problems. It would help a lot if you could provide us a savegame in which those issues occur, so we can have a closer look. Sending it to support@chasing-carrots.com with a short comment refering to this thread should suffice.
Also, are you playing the campaign or the freeplay mode?

Regards
Paul

A quick update on a bug which might be the cause for issues described in this thread:

We've found out that moving inventories between workzones confuses logistics employees so they tend to ignore certain connections from and to those moved inventories. There will be a patch soon, fixing this issue.

I'd be happy to send the save game. Where do I find that file so I can email it?
It happened in both campaign and freeplay, though it didn't happen until the third main mission in the campaign. It wasn't bad in that one, but in the fourth, it was very bad.
Restarting the client seemed to fix it for about five minutes, but further restarts didn't do much.

Apologies for being a little snippy about it. Was frustrated when I wrote that on top of already having a not-great day.

No worries, I'm here to help :)

You can find the savegames in Steam's installation folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<YOU_USER_ID>\911430\remote\
Savegames have a
.sav
extention.

You could try out if the issues are still present with the recent update we've pushed (version 0.7.1, like 30 minute ago).

Hope your day gets better!

gotta admit aswell the logistics is really bad in this game. I played a few of the tutorial missions with no problems on it. so went into free mode and when i try connect things im making to shelfs it just wont have it and just beeps at me. Hired employees and same thing. Sorry but this system is just broken and makes the game not fun at all.

I got a bug today when I relocated workbenches into different workzones. It doesn't clear out the old logistic connections so the employees walk across the map for at least the supply end. Going to manual logistics and clearing the pathways doesn't work, even though it shows appropriate connections the whole time. Had to change recipe, remove employee, clear logistics, add recipe back and set back up to make it work for each workbench. (not sure if all those steps are necessary but pretty close)

Changing one large workzone with machinery in it into two is also a pain as you have to move every machine to get the old workzone marking out from under the machines.

Logistics system is sending all conveyor content into delivery instead of to items that need it atm.

Literally killed the conveyor campaign mission in one update.

I really like Good Company, but this should not be on public build if it literally cannot work with a mechanic.

If it were a full release game I would agree with you however it's early access, you're paying for an unfinished game, the updates will introduce new problems and patches will come to fix said problems.

Those that buy early access games are essentially there to help the developers debug the game, if you do not wish to be a part of this then don't buy an early access game.

No. Early Access is not an excuse for pushing an update that breaks a core mechanic. Even EA titles have inhouse testing. I will defend Early Access for many reasons, but this is definitely not one of them.

I just wanna say that having logistics break at the start of the Summer Sale when myself, and probably others are just finding out about this game is a horrible time to have such a frustrating bug.
I've put in 4-5 hours and i've gotten so frustrated trying to figure out how Logistics work that i gave up.

I only casually thought that maybe, just maybe, it was a bug and went to the forums here to find out that yes. The game's core method for playing the game is functionally broken due to a bug.

Fix your game, You're gonna get bad reviews from people who get frustrated and give up after the return window has closed.

I agree with Traslogan, but i'm quite happy with the new logistics zones, it saves a lot of time. It might be an idea to rename the courier routes to transport routes and there make a user switch between couriers and conveyors.

If you can also use special conveyor machinery like an "automatic retrieval segment" to connect your courier pallets...great!

I want to say that I do really enjoy Good Company, I got it when it launched on day-1. I didn't have much complaint about the original logic system, my complaint lies with the new automated one specifically as it doesn't function well for now. It looks fine for a while and that encourages you to use it, then suddenly it uses a pallet as storage for 3 assembly benches and an entire building dies.

The biggest issue for me atm was some campaign missions. E.g. the one about cleaner bots at the old bakery. 2 of its 4 buildings are useless due to the new system, since they contain no delivery areas so we can't even setup a route between them, and 1 has no conveyor belt access whilst the other literally has just 1.

Unless I've missed it, I think having the ability to toggle it off by default would be help enough for those of us who know the original system well enough. For newer users who want it automated, I think it's better to wait a few weeks.
