So the only reservation I have just now is the long term challenge because sandbox is the only mode on offer.

The tutorial does its' job it is short and sweet and to the point which is very much Stefans' style.

Stefan was the sole developer for half of the development of Mad Games Tycoon after his brother sadly passed away during development. This never stopped the guy infact I swear the content update rate doubled and I personally have rated and priased both MGT and Stefan many times as a result.

MTT is REALLY nicely presented, the bobble head style put me off in the screens but I really think they didn't do the game justice as it looks a hell of a lot better at full res and actually playing.

Controls and UI are as slick as you'd want, everything is very well laid out. TONS of variety and gameplay are here I barely unlocked a few new room types and there are dozens and dozens across almost a dozen catagories.

Some really intuitive ideas like having things like a server room which is rquired for offices, show its' coverage area, some nice controls like holding down ctrl to snap to the next available are to build flush against the last. REALLY easy to work with I mean I always say UI/UX is core to any management game and MTT nails this right off the starting blocks.

It is nice to watch the ant farm do its' thing ... there are lots of little animations and things to distract you on this front.

I really like that unlike every other game before it MTT places stairs AROUND the rooms thanks to its 3D presentation so rather than having to set aside space for a stairwell it's actually considered to be build in front of the rooms and thus controlling and managing floor access is not a headache but still things like quality, noise, pollution and foot traffic all need considered.

Considering this is day 1 I really do not feel like I have over embelished on my admiration for Stefan, his work ethic and the games Eggcode make. Right now it is 2/2 and as I mentioned prior my only real concern is long term challenge as just now it is a sandbox mode on offer exclusively.

That said MGT was not short of challenge and at the kind price point PLUS a discount ... if you enjoy tycoon/management titles you really could do far worse than supporting this one.

The only compeition is the previously released Project Highrise and while comparisons will obviously be drawn I personally think that both games are quite different on their approach and deserve equal merit.

Soooo I saw this game and thought hmm it looks like a really old game I loved to play from the early 90's published by a company that made quite a few "SimName" hits including one that was called "SimTower". I played the 90's version hours on end building some super sized buildings and missed seeing a modern version of it.

Despite playing Mad Tower Tycoon for a short time I started to feel a lot of the magic from the 90's coming back to me that I had felt from SimTower and will be playing this title a lot more in the future :) I just had to stop playing and write a review for others who might be wondering! It does have a couple of awkward game mechanic things that one would be expected in a modern game, stair cases cant be flipped, right click doesn't deselect the building piece you are placing. Those things are really minimal and nice to have's though.

Yes it's EA, no... not that "EA", so I would expect things to be updated, tuned, and worked on as time goes by. I look forward to seeing where the dev's take Mad Tower Tycoon!!!!

If you miss SimTower, this is the closest thing I've found to it. Less complex than Project Highrise - we are back to elevator management but not quite the same way as SimTower. I'll probably keep playing around with it. I found it enjoyable.

Before buying,
Do realize it's not a "Rome game" that can be completed in a day.

It's a game that you will leave your PC on overnight from time to time to boost your money and level without doing anything!

The Dev said it's a Sim just like the one he and i (you?) played as kids called Sim Tower.
Just as in Sim Tower it's very slow to build up money and prestige (Stars) VERY SLOW!
But can be playable ALL day if you know what your doing.....

Leave your PC on overnight, I did.
Came back to $20 mill and level 20.
Not bad for being at $20k and a level 3, before bed.

This game is FUN and you DON'T NEED to leave it on for it to be played. but it helps a lot if your not willing to wait.

Impression (Like):
I bought this because I heard its similar to Sim Tower and its one of my favourite games of all time. The game lives up to this expectation. It is basically Sim Tower with better graphics, and since Maxims had long abandoned the franchise Mad Tower Tycoon is my go to game now for tower sim.

Suggested improvement:
While some may argue that the game is a bit simplistic as a sim game, it is great when you just want to chill and enjoy building your own buildings, be it an office tower, large hotels, shopping malls, etc. In the end you will probably end up with a bit of a mix.

Traffic management is a major part of the game and planning your elevator shafts are extremely important, especially when your buildings reach certain heights.

If this game has a sequel I just hope it provides more attractions, restaurant types, and shops. As at now the building gets a bit repetitive after some time (which is similar to Sim Tower).

I really enjoyed my time with the game and would recommend this to anyone who just wants to build a tower without too much complication or those who liked Sim Tower.

This game compares directly to Project Highrise. Project Highrise is much more in depth and makes more sense to me (as someone who has lived and worked in highrises most of my life).

The main advantage of this game is that there is an aspect of traffic management which wasn't a concern nearly as much in project highrise. This game would be a better game than Project Highrise if the AI pathfinding wasn't so bad making the whole traffic management portion of the game pointless.

So buy Project Highrise first. If you still have an itch, this is a good game to get. Then I recommend it.

Mad Tower Tycoon is a rather faithful recreation of SimTower and I've been wondering if there would ever be a good replacement for decades. Lo and behold, it has arrived!

For all those unfamiliar with SimTower: you build a tower (vertically and horizontally), put rooms in, manage the elevators, stress level of occupants and finances and you do so on an ever increasing scale until you run out of either patience or room. You unlock levels that grant you skill points that give you some passive benefits (something not present in SimTower) and you unlock new rooms by achieving a certain status.

Unfortunately, being such a faithful reproduction it also suffers from some of the same flaws: I consider these types of games to be somewhat easy as once you have a somewhat stable economy, you can just keep the game running. There's no pressure to go higher except for your own expectations and the somewhat increasing demands of your tenants in the form of a new service. It would have been nice if there was a stock market and outside economical influences that you would have to work with but none of these were present in the original game either so I can't knock it for that. There are 'disasters' that will randomly fire.

Another critique I have is that you pretty much always end up with the same type of building (a gigantic block) as there is no benefit to building in the image of, say, the Sydney Opera house. I suppose it might be somewhat outside the scope of the game but I would have really liked to see a 3D interpretation of SimTower (as in that you can create floorplans from a top-down perspective). Perhaps MTT2 will boldly go where no Tower simulator has gone before, who knows.

SimTower 2, sorry, Mad tower Tycoon is very enjoyable. It is a little buggy at this point (some hotel rooms won't be cleaned until after they're rebuilt, occupants sometimes float through the air, elevators magically decide that they're too close to other elevators even though you already covered 10 floors or so ... ) but it is playable and the developer seems to actively patch it.

I'm not too big a fan of the more cartoonish graphics and preferred the more business-like silhouetted occupants from days of yore but I do appreciate being able to slightly tilt the camera and seeing the tower from the sides. It adds just a bit more life to your tower.

For people that played the old SimTower game, this game will be instantly familiar. Just like SimTower, once you reach a certain inflection point the tower runs itself, but you will constantly be tweaking things here and there while you strive for 100 floors. The only thing I am not a fan of is the "zombie apocalypse" events. That kind of feels forced, but beyond that this is a stellar game for those who love building simulators or who played SimTower and loved it.

I typed Sim Tower into Steam, Mad Tower Tycoon came up. I am now playing a game that scratches an itch 25 years old.

Brilliant game !
Here is some complaints.
Funny and attractive at first, but as long as I continue, I have to pay more and more time on just waiting for xp up and saving money.In fact, I think it is a little difficult to unlock things.
And also I really donot know how to make my visitors stay, for they just have no interesting in shopping or eating.
Besides, the elevator lift can never meet the need....they will never use the escalator btw...
