Click 'Add game...' in your lower left steam library, click on 'Add a No-Steam game' (or whats it in english), add RG:O from Epic folder.
Tadaa, you can launch it via steam now. Uhh no Community-Hub/Discussion link ? Deal with it, open the community hub manually and there it is. Only thing you 'll miss would be the achievements. But woh cares. (of course, someone who is searching sth to troll, but thats not my problem :) ).
Well as the publisher is the developer for this game they can do anything they like irrespective of what Epic wants. Unless they signed a contract with Epic that prevents them from agreeing to migration to Steam for existing users.
Klei made it possible to those that brought Griftlands on Epic and gave them free steam copy. So it is possible but it's upto to them.
I mean... maybe, but regardless, the game was purchased once in Epic, the Steam key would be viewed either way... a key provided for a purchase to loyal game backers to use on Steam (justly purchased). Or, still a key justly purchased through Epic, but then put up for re-sale by the individual (probably illegal, but not diving into that) and can still only be used once in Steam.
Technically the Devs still sold one copy on Epic either way - only difference is the original owner used the Steam key, or sold/gave it away. Still a 1:1 key.
Some people like consolidation, some like Steam over other platforms. Choice is a good thing, options are a good thing. I purchased this on Epic way back when, since then have not really played the game, and refuse to install the Epic launcher on my new PC after learning more about the companies behind it (wont dive into that here) - personal preference. So it would be nice to be able to load it into Steam without having to buy it again. Won't be mad if I can't, just will not play the game, but its all good no love lost here.
To play it on Steam obviously. Because I have Steam open a lot but I dont ever use Epic. I have this one game on Epic so I want to get rid of it. I already have Epic, Origin, Xbox Game Pass and Steam, I could do with getting rid of Origin and Epic.
I honestly dont see the issue. If you have paid for a game you should be able to play it on any platform you wish, and the publisher should be prepared to give you a key if the game is available on that platform if asked for one. I dont see why this would be an issue for them.
Admittedly they may not want to do this for a while to wait for Steam sales to calm down a bit first. I have no intention of buying the game twice. This way if they ever release any dlc at least I will be in the market to buy it, whereas I wont if my game stays on Epic.
Eventually I will just uninstall Epic and consider this game a wasted purchase.
Well Slitherine/Matrix provide Steam codes for all of their games that you buy on their own store, and Frontier have done it for Elite Dangerous etc, so if they can do it other people can.
When buying Griftlands on epic you could have the game on Steam also, don't know why devs. don't do this more often.
