It has one critical flaw that harms its longevity - lack of ship variety.
In games like X4, Freelancer, even Elite Tedious, the best ships are exclusively tied to factions and / or station economy types, including outlaws and aliens. Each faction has its own distinct design language. Pirate ships are fast. Liberty ships are agile. Rheinland ships are armored. Teladi ships are good for trading etc. This acted as a driving force behind building relations with different factions by doing their missions, and exploring the sectors to find stations, to get access to all those exclusive ships and equipment. There are numerous options for ships, with multiple tiers for each playstyle and combination. It adds to strategy - finding the right ship and equipment that suits your activities. Buying a new ship opens up a new way to play, new enemies to take on, extending the gameplay significantly.
^ This entire aspects of gameplay and progression is missing from this game. There are only a handful of ships and equipment in this game, all largely available across the entire galaxy (with a few variations available at a special story location). You don't really have any incentive to explore the gameworld or build relations.
They have added a couple more ships since launch. Some more content expansions are planned. But I am hoping things will really improve when the planned modding tools are introduced, letting players create their own ships.
Do you know if they are going to release on Early Access or full release ?
the game is over a year past its release on Epic so in my honest opinion thats well past early access.
ive fought the urge to just buy it on epic and waited patiently, i will only purchase on steam.
After seeing Satisfactory and Hades back on Steam still on Early Access i wonder if they will follow the same path, this game is certainly on my wishlist but i will wait to see what price they find correct for people who bought their first game and waited for more than a year for this 1.
If you already own it on Steam it's because you received a free key from the devs. so your opinion have 0 value.
Are you going to write a fake positive review on day 1 too.
The flying model is better than Privateer as you can use your inertia dampeners to turn while flying in a different direction, it makes fighting bigger ships much more dynamic.
They really stayed very, very close to the original. My question at this point is: What is the next best 'X-Wing/ Tie Fighter' game? As these were equally unmatched so far, the way dogfight and scale was implemented is not even present in this one (true to the original of course)
