Anyone get a pirate weapon drop?

Anyone found the special weapons that rarely (feels super duper rarely) drop from pirate lords? I went hunting them for quite a while but got frustrated after maybe 30 kills with no drops. Did the devs ever increase the drop chance?

well i hunted like 10 pirate lord and get my hand on 3 flak canon
still looking for for gatling canon and the laser canon

Every pirate lord drops a weapon, but it is not always a special one.
Anyway it looks only the flak is decent, the others use way too much energy for their ouput.

After hunting pirate lords a lot (10-15?) I have 3 gattlings and 1 cpc laser.
Both draw waaay to much power, they make tachions seem tame by comparison.
realisticaly you can only use 1 in any ship.

Not just those but even big frigates etc drop nothing sometimes its like wtf is the point to all this and i go back to mining and make 100K in 30 minutes

To be fair, if you open the Target Mode from the Command Menu and move the cursor over a ship, it'll show you their information. Ship name, type (bomber, fighter, freighter, etc.), faction, bounty amount, and their current cargo. Want to know if a Pirate Lord is worth your time? Check their cargo and see what loot they'll drop when they die. Simple as that.

As far as I know a scan doesn't show if they'll drop pirate lord specific weapons. I couldn't care less about their sellable cargo or money as I have enough to buy whatever I want at this point. Plus by the time you're close enough to scan you went through the effort to find a system they're in and track them down, so may as well blow 'em up anyway.

I scanned a Pirate Lord. It showed they had a Gauss Gun.

I killed them, and they dropped a Gauss Gun.

Let me know if you see a Flak Cannon, Gatling Cannon, or CPC Laser on a Pirate Lord that then drops, because dang I've been getting frustrated running lords for 'em and coming up with nothing

Like I said, hit me up with a screenie if it shows the special Pirate Lord only weapons, that'd save a tiny bit of time of avoiding the fight otherwise I guess

Nice you lucky dog, thanks for the confirmation. I wonder if it's higher chances on some specific Pirate Lords or just fully random. I read some theories that it's based on what you have currently equipped, in which case can I ask what you were running for guns on the Mattock? I really hope there's some trend or pattern for farming these things, because like I said I'm 30+ kills in with not a single unique weapon from the Pirate Lords.

There may indeed. I've been running Auto-Cannons and Photon Cannons since I could afford them, from the Sonora through the Sequoia and now the Mattock. My first Pirate Lord was an accident, but it got me a Gatling Cannon.

Since I've tried to start hunting them down and learning how to do that, I've downed 4 more. I've gotten a Dumbfire Launcher, Gauss Gun, ImRec Launcher, and a second Gatling Cannon for my trouble. So I'm 5-0 with Pirate Lords, but I've yet to see a CPC Laser or Flak Canon.

But I'm literally about to hunt my 6th, so lets see how that rolls out.

Eh, just a Mass Driver.

Did notice something funny though. Equipment Drops don't take up any cargo space, however if your cargo hull is full you'll get a 'Hull Full' warning and it won't let you Tractor Beam it up. Just had to dump a single item, hoover up the Mass Driver, then pick my cargo right back up.
