For the first episode in a series, it does a great job at laying the foundation for a deep and rich world.

I got through the normal play through and took a little time to explore and learn the crafting. If you take advantage of the engineering of new weapons, barter for mods and try for some better successes with crafting, the game is a ton of fun.

If you use your abilities, boost to close distance and avoid enemy fire, use your emp and the right weapons based on the resistances of the enemies, it flows really well. My guess is people who burn through it will find it harder than it needs to be. If you like fights that involve planning with the right weapon and setup, you will highly enjoy this game. For a brand new studio and their first project, they nailed it. It's an a great experience.

PROS
Brand new world, characters with excellent graphics that are sharp, crisp and run really well on my 1070.
They pay a lot of attention to small details as you travel around the levels and skydeck area.
Great missions that are not "go kill 10 of these."
Fun dialogue with the main characters that I am guessing will only increase as new episodes come along.
Engaging and fun combat, with very cool boss fights. Who doesn't like shooting killer robots with flamethrowers, cryo rifles and rocket launchers?
The ending was awesome. The final boss was really cool and a long hard fight that took a few times to get right.
No noticeable bugs, ran super smooth and no VR sickness even though I had full locomotion on and was spinning, strafing and boosting all over the place.
Effects, sounds, music all were really great and beyond most VR games. Very impressive.

CONS
Some areas dialogue overlaps with combat. Hard to hear.
Once in a very rare while an enemy would not move for a bit until you shoot it.
The engineering could be a little clearer. Same with the mod system.
Needs a little more interaction and world building with the main characters. They have a great start, can't wait to see more.

We had 2d UI menus, physical interactions with our cockpit and button interactions all while our trackpads tried to function like dual analog sticks instead of tried and true trackpad locomotion.

Throw in the fact that the UI didn't really explain anything and wasn't very user friendly and you get a chaotic mishmash of half formed ideas that could have been good, but instead feel like they were designed by someone with ADHD constantly screaming "squirrel!" at each new design pattern. Which makes this even more frustrating as a good number of these ideas could have been really good if they'd had some consistency with the rest of the game and been polished out more.

Melee was a mess. The short stubby arms just felt bad to swing around. It felt more like flailing than fighting.

The shotgun didn't really feel much more powerful than the blaster and required ammo to use and I didn't feel like there was enough present to keep in stock the way enemies respawned. This coupled with the fact that once you ran out of ammo you were stuck with an entirely useless weapon that took several seconds of concentrated effort, potentially with both hands, to swap back to your infiniblaster... It just didn't feel like the marginal damage increase was worth the hassle.

The grenade launcher definitely had some kick to it but the ammo shortage and aforementioned lack of a quick swap weapon feature kept me from really utilizing it.

Being locked in one place and unable to move in VR is always a bad design decision. I want to move. I want to dodge. I want to pop out from cover and really quickly back into it as I get lit up.
This isn't a PSVR game. The Vive can definitely handle turning around. WMRs inside out tracking can handle it. A 3 camera Oculus or well placed 2 camera setups can handle it.
Why are we locked forward?

Unclear objectives. The main idea was presented well. Go shut down the poison soldier! However the steps that make up that task had a lot of little unclear objectives that you just happen upon like
finding the security card and not being told to go back to the elevator, using the unexplained dash mechanic to jump a gap or closing the bay door to name a few.

As I was afraid of, the story starts midway through. You're not introduced to any characters you're just thrust into the world assuming you've read the book and know who these people are.
It would have been nice to see some sort of backstory play out. A summary of the events from the book to get new players up to speed. It would have been redundant for those that read the book
but if they read the book and are now playing the game, they probably liked it and wouldn't mind.

The UI was atrocious. Ok, maybe not that bad but it could have used a lot more work. I touched on this already but it bears repeating. The UI just felt chaotic. There wasn't one constant style
used across features for a player to get familiar with. Everything looks like it was designed, coded and implemented without ever seeing any of the other features.

I did like the look and feel of the world and characters. The music was great at getting you into that tense moment The voice acting was also pretty good. A few good strong points for the game.

None of that directly impacts gameplay and at the end of the day I have to ask, was the game fun? Do I want to play again? Scraper just gets in the way of itself when it comes to gameplay and my personal answer is no. It wasn't all that fun. It was frustrating and I'm not really interested in going back. When you factor in the #30 price tag, there's much better out there for you to spend your $$ on.

Just like The Way of The Kings, I'm sure that I've offended some of the book fans. Please remember that I'm judging this based as a stand alone game and ignoring the fact that the book exists altogether. I'm sure that some of you will pick this up based solely off the IP regardless of how many issues it has. I hope you enjoy it. I did not.

Great game and awesome VR adventure. The innovative controls and combat system make it easy to immerse yourself in this vast scifi world. I dig the story, characters, and setting.

Reading a few of the negative reviews and I just don't get it...this game is amazing! Super polished, fun gameplay, and a must have imo. I read one review complaining about no walking....dude, it's a part of the story...you literally are deployed in a military mech-pod on a mission. You don't like the story or the fact that you get to explore the complex in a kick-ass attack pod...so be it, but don't crap on the game in reviews because it's not your cup of tea. Sorry for the rant, but I am tired of people crapping on a game that clearly took a lot of developement, has great polish, and enjoyeable mechanics...there are plenty of seriously crappy games on steam, trust me I've bought tons...this is not one of them. If you like Sci-fi, great gameplay, and a seriously polished vr game this one is for you. *P.S.* Must add for the developers...great job! Also, just read the first patch notes and it is refreshing to see that you are listening to feed back and am excited to get back into the game. My #1 thing I literally was like YES about...marking maintenance on the map...I cannot tell you how I have been roaming around looking to repair my pod. Loving this game, keep up the great work!!!

Game is a lot of fun. New sci-fi world. Game is sharp, crisp, and runs niceley. Cool weapons to choose from and various enemy types. Just getting going and will update more later. Crafting and farming to come.

There is a lot thrown at you right away. Needs a guide in the wrist codex thing to help explain the things you can do. The new updates are great. Mission markers were much needed.

Im loving this game, it has it all, good voice acting, good performance, good graphics, good audio, and well put together, sure it could use some polish and improvements here and there, but what game doesnt?.

Its a seated shooter experience, where you sit in a very well armored and equiped Pod, with a different assortment of weapons. So far aside from the starter rifle, ive found a shotgun, granade launcher, and a laser rifle.

While i think the movement is too slow, the whole being inside a pod thing makes it hard to get motion sickness, so there is a plus.

The story is interesting and there is a bunch of tablets to read to get more info about it.

I do think there are some areas to improve, but overall in the ~5hrs ive played ive had a very good experience.

In my opinion, the ammount of content is pretty big, just from what ive played im already happy with my purchase and if you want a sitting shooter youll be happy with this game too.

Only played a small amount so reserve roggt to Chang ethos, but so far whay I've seen is a high production quality game similar to seeking dawn in terms of graphics and voice acting. Mechanics are great I love that it's a single player seated game with wands, you can control components of your pod like vox mechinae in a sense.

This is a definite buy, contingent on how much content it has. I just started so not sure but the game itself is definitely up there.

This could have been a great game, it does have good graphics, story and experience but, it is broken when it comes to checkpoints and tracking objectives that are necessary for story progression. I have tried many times to finish the game, but end up having to start over.

This game requires you to replay the previous levels to scavenge resources, while you are busy doing that, it simply forgets the main objective and you will have no objective to pursue which forces you to start over from the beginning or restore a saved game. Restoring from saved slot is not always possible, as it only allows a small number of save slots!

I finally gave up on it, not worth the time, effort or money!

Great visuals, but gameplay is more frustrating than enjoyable. The way you press/activate things and engage in combat is tedious. Things don't work as smoothly as you'd like them to. This is probably better suited to a flat screen mouse/keyboard type game than VR. A few specific examples: during the training area you can't move while talking to NPCs which gave me the ♥♥♥♥♥, you're also asked to do a thumbs up to them which doesn't work, in the elevator I didn't how to get out until I realised there's a notification flashing on my wrist (I was looking for a way to open the door), upstairs in the hallways shooting enemies was just a repetitive button press (there's no feeling to it), then while using a terminal I got blasted by an enemy and died. And, as someone else mentioned, way too many design ideas cluttered together. Frustrating experience.

An incredible game that showcases the potential of VR as a medium. I was deeply impressed by the graphics quality of the game, and that was before I realized that the quality had been set to low! The cockpit interface was amazingly detailed and interactive, the gameplay had a lot of depth and the boss fights were complex and exciting. Overall a great experience and would recommend to anyone that has any doubts about whether a VR game can compete with a Triple-A game.
