Criftaa's past

So I recruited Criftaa and tried to talk about her past with her and the loyalty icon is greyed out. I tried getting her loyalty up and now she is friendly and the loyalty icon is still greyed out. Do I need Amicable loyalty with her for her to open up, or does the option only work when she is congenial? Is this related to the start of her quest, or does her quest start with some other trigger? if so, what is is? Iv'e played through her storyline before on another character but I can't remember the trigger to start it. Any help on this matter would be appreciated :).

So it seems that her quest starts after completing a bounty quest. I had her from the start, was about 2 years in and still no triggers. Then I finally get around to doing all the bounty quests and the next time I leave a town her questline started. Not sure about the past dialogue yet, but at least her quest is progressing.
