Such approach is not justified and the time to load the game is way too long. And there is time to load the save file anyway!
On the same PC I load (game+save) 3D open world games (like Skyrim or Witcher) faster than this one... Pls fix.
While I appreciate that saves at least do load quickly, for a game that's primarily text-based, the time it takes to load, even on an SSD, is very noticeable indeed.
Hopefully they can improve on this somewhat moving forward.
(BTW, if this were switched so that saves take this long to load instead, I suspect everyone would be complaining that loading saves takes too long. Surely the total time - loading the game initially + loading a save (ie total startup time) - can be reduced to be more reasonable. Especially on an SSD.).
These have been MASSIVELY improved since a number of patches ago - it takes around 50% or maybe even 30% or less the time it took when it came out.
Definitely recommend coming back to the game if this is the one thing holding you back.
Note that it's still front-loaded - so although it takes much less time for the game to start up now, it still takes very little time to load a save, and during the game there's only the occasional hitch (showing there may still be improvements down the road as someone didn't multithread something properly it seems - it doesn't annoy TOO much though given this is a turn-based game).
We are aware that a save game folder containing a large number of saves can cause slowdowns, and addressing that is on our to-do list (no promises). However, that should not affect loading times, only the initial listing of available saves.
