Bug in Mind/Memory puzzle

I'm stuck in Chapter 1, in the mind puzzle with all the rooms you move around. In the room with the glass that tips over, the lever you click on to open the pipe is stuck. I walked into the room, hit the lever, tipped over the glass, and now I can't use the lever again. I keep clicking the white circle and nothing happens. I didn't know if it was just part of the puzzle, but in the walkthrough, they tip over the glass and then switch the lever again immediately, which I can't do. Is there are workaround, or should I just reset the game and hope for the best?
