Global Conflagration

Global Conflagration

1st Time Demo Playtest
I was fortunate to play a demo/test of Global Conflagration for the first time, and I was not disappointed. It feels like it took from what C&C Generals 2 should have been while still retaining its own distinct identity. I played exclusively as EDU this demo and wanted to give my 2 cents on it.

1.) The EDU railgun tanks can destroy air units. They can't target them, but they can hit them via collateral damage. I discovered this by committing friendly fire against an A.I. teammate after winning a match and repeated the act in battle against an enemy A.I., taking down a Carpathian blimp. IDK if this is intentional or not, but I thought I'd mention it.

2.) I had a love/hate relationship with the A.I. difficulty. Overall, I'm impressed with the difficulty of it, and actually really appreciated being given a run for my money plus more. I had to play with an A.I. teammate to get anywhere as my skills don't allow me to 1v1 an A.I. on hard difficulty at this time.

3.) I noticed the A.I., whether enemy or teammate, likes to snowball an army and sit them on a control point in the farthest corners of the map. (2 corners to be precise.) In the case of the enemy, it felt like they should have taken efforts to wipe me out sooner; with my A.I. Ally, it felt like they were useless at times. While I would expect them to guard their control points, it felt a bit superfluous at times on their part.

4. I usually stick to RTS games with resource gathering, but the control points in this were a ton of fun. No lack of action to be had.

In summery, I greatly enjoyed this game and can't wait for it to release. I've longed for an RTS whose universe is grounded in more modern technology rather than futuristic, a major appeal that C&C Generals 1-2 held for me. (R.I.P. Generals 2.) If the release date is still a ways off, I hope another demo comes soon. Thanks for making this masterpiece in the works.
