What are the GPU and CPU temperature readings?
Probably, to check the network problems, you will have to try connecting via USB (Metalink).
On that spec I'd say it's pretty good. But make sure you update its firmware and don't use the stock one.
Temps are good and GPU/CPU has plenty of overhead. I noticed I had a ton of dropped frames, I had 800 dropped frames in 2 mins. I turned off video buffering (which claims to reduce occasional stutters) and it has fixed everything so far....
I notice i have a 15% reporjection ratio and my total res setting is 100%, my total app res setting is 150%. and my global res setting is 3000s x 3000s.
Are you using VD? What preset do you use in VD?
If you use VD:
Try use 100% app res and 100% global res in SteamVR. Set 90Hz mode. Try find best preset in VD in terms of performance.
General recommendation:
DO NOT USE 120Hz in every game :)
90Hz for games with normal/good vr performance.
72-80 Hz for games with poor vr performance/for games in which VR was not originally present and was added by a mod/update.
120Hz for games with simple graphics and excellent performance.
I've tried the above. I notice red ticks in my CPU. But honestly I'm done. I'm about to throw the quest 3 in the trash. I've spent so much time trying to get it to work I think in the 2 weeks i've had it I have probably played 2 hours. I'm done, its not for me. Thanks for the help
I had these same issues with my quest 3 stuttering despite plenty of headroom. I was using a TP-Link router with 6ghz wifi exclusively used for the quest. Despite fast connection speed being reported and nearly 2 months of troubleshooting, i eventually bough the PrismXR Puppis S1 and it solved all the stutters. Despite the prismxr looking worse on paper being only 5ghz it solved all my issues and i have no stutters. Give it a shot, if it still doesnt fix it just return it but you might be surprised. I know i was.
I'll give that a shot. Thanks for your recommendation. Honestly the quest 3 has been a paper weight for a month
Yea i totally felt that. I was about to get rid of mine too and go with a Pimax or something else wired, until i was able to solve the stutters with the PrismXR puppis. Im happy because with games like walkabout minigolf the cordless option is really amazing. As a bonus i just caught the end of the return window on the TP-Link router so i got my $190 back and the puppis was half the price!
One other thing to note you do only have 8gb of VRAM on the 3070 so maybe try lowering texture quality too. I went from 10gb to a 24gb card and some games take all they can get. FPS VR should be able to show VRAM usage with the full overlay.
I dont think its my system or VRAM. Just this occasional stutter. Graphics have been irrelevant. I dropped settings really low but this stutter i get and frame loss is driving me crazy
Yea sounds like it might be the same issue as me then. I would run Dirt Rally 2 and Walkabout on all different refresh rates and resolutions and the stutter was always there until switching routers. Give a shot and let me know!
