How did you do that, enquiring minds want to know.
I got to level 3 in the prison without using any points, then I used cheat engine to modify how many attribute and skill points I had available.
Blast Cosmic and Magic Arrow. PROFIT!

Along with light damage, there needs to be SOME mana regen without a potion or mushroom even at low levels. Arcane Dart damage is still a bit low as it takes ALL your mana to kill single enemy; Magic Arrow takes too long to cast and should not have a curve on firing, it's magic and should be straight line to target and a bit quicker.
Echo stones might want to be on some kind of questline instead of totally random as well.
Just my observations from a level 10 grinder that's been dying a ton.
By level 4, you could have mana regen. You get mana regen when any magic skill reaches level 10. You increase that mana regen for every point up to 20. If every magic skill is at 20, you get insane mana regen, because it stacks for each magic skill at 10 or higher.

Magic arrow tracks enemies automatically. It's a little annoying, but it deals so much damage in comparison to other spells, that I didn't care. You can learn to aim it better, knowing that it has homing capabilities.

Casting times are not reduced by anything that I've seen, and I made a cheat character with 99 in each attribute and 20 in each skill, to test game mechanics.

I've been wanting to try out different builds, including a mage, as well, or at least respec - how did you make a "cheat" character? I've been unable to make cheatengine work for this game. Thanks!

Magic arrow is stronger compared to other spells, might need a rebalance. Once you have it you don't need any other spells and you just one shot most creatures.

Fireball requires higher int and unlocks later and it deals less damage. How about making fireball grow larger and more powerful as you channel, that was a really cool aspect in Arx Fatalis.

Currently you don't feel the need to cast different offensive spells. I think the game needs resistance/weakness system and damage types, also we need something like a bestiary that unlocks as you kill things where we can see this info, and more info can be unlocked when you kill the same creature. That would add so much depth into the game.

I can see this game turning into an immersive sim masterpiece, it has all the correct fundamentals and just needs some more work. I think people would also pay for a dlc to see those improvements perhaps in the future because if you love these types of games you don't have many other alternatives.

Get to level 3 without using any points. Go to a shrine. Search all values for how many attribute points you have. Search for how many spare attribute points you have. Put points into an attribute. Search for how many spare attribute points you have. Take points out of the attribute. Search again. Repeat until you know which value belongs to attribute points, then change that value. The same process works for skills. Attribute and skill points are always whole numbers.

I'm having fun with a stealth caster build. My only complaint is that I do not like the caster first person hand lol. It sticks straight out and looks super goofy taking up way to much of the screen. Sprinting makes you feel like you are flying like superman.

High jump is OP and will allow you to skip entire areas. I was able to jump straight to the emerald horn in serpent's bastion. The spell list seems incomplete without being able to get the final echo stone. It would be nice to have access to invisibility and speed as spells. I also note that the lightning spell is weak, but it's called "lesser lightning". I want to see what greater lightning is like. Fireball is underwhelming for how late you get it. It knocks enemies down, but the damage is pitiful. Ice shards does pitiful damage and drains ALL your focus, so never use it. Flame hand is pretty decent for a character that has enough stamina to dodge while fighting. I mostly used arcane dart until I had the 17 int for arcane arrow. Arcane arrow is the only good offensive spell, but you won't be able to access it until the game is almost over. You get a lot of use out of divine light. Telekinesis could have been a pretty cool spell, since it works on levers and switches, but you can't cast it through doors, so I never really used it. I imagine it could be used to steal items, so it could be pretty good.

All in all, I like the magic system, but like many other parts of the game, it's clearly not finished.
There is another Lightning spell (Rahi Aris Isil Zeetra Rodan) Divine
Thorn Shield (Rahi Zaal Aris Isil Vektra Zetra) Divine
Thanks to Vava from another post.

Unfortunately till controller support is added, I won’t be buying the game. But I appreciate the feedback on caster

I don't think this game is suitable for a controller. Mouse+keyboard is the king.
I actually agree with Noobmagnet, but also, controllers do work, you just have to change stuff around. I mostly have been playing with mouse and keyboard. But, I have also been playing on the Steam Deck, and it works pretty well. I have it setup similar to how Arx Fatalis is setup on the deck controller scheme
