Since I know nothing about the physical or digital versions of this game, is there a campaign or is it entirely PvP?

There is no campaign. You can play games against the AI, though.

I think most people play exclusively against the computer, actually.

Just dropping in to these threads - the game is not just PvP. There is no campaign or story mode but you can play offline against AI only and also involve the AI in online PvP if you would like.

... small addition: the game is also a Coop-Lan in offline mode, up to 4 people can play on the same PC thanks to the well-known "Pass and Play" mode.
Mode you can find in many other digital versions of boardgames.

How is the AI in the game?

Depends, I find it very good, sometimes at easy level you seem to face a full hard.
The big difference, you notice when you decide how many win points to play with, the less they are the harder it is.
Other thing noticed, if you start the game it might be easier to win.
On the AI then, personal experience, I haven't to complain, I like it.
The biggest negative feeling I feel playing, is the lack of cards, they seem few, so I hope the Devs soon add the promo cards (maybe all in an expansive package, they aren't many, 15 cards) and the other 3 expansions (Twilight Garden, Harmony, Nemesis).
