How do I change the Unit language

i noticed that the units in the japanese campaign speak japanese.
so the troops that are recruited in the barracks.
in the Chinese Campange they still spoke Chinese.

how do i make that the units in the skirmish also speak japanese ?????

Its weird, Warlords on english handles languages all different, while switching to full Japanese and full Chinese they all speak the respective language [at least i think so since, im not greatest at Japanese]
Unfotunately if you are to change the language you have to change it all, from text to dialogue, they didn't leave an option to change things individually, on one side its less spacey that way, on other, yeah it can get weird in some situations.

I changed the language from German to japanese, all units speak japanese, no surprise so far.
When I changed it back to German in the mongolian campaingh the units spoke mongolian, in the chinese they spoke chineseand in the japanese they speak japanese.
Why this difference?
Im thinking to playing the game in japanese from now on, even thougt i cant read it....

Well i had mostly time on skirmish but on English the units speak respective languages, so vietnamese vietnamese, chinese chinese, samurai japanese, forgot what firelancers spoke but then you have Ninjas and Siege equipment that speak English. Where as if i switched language to japanese for me all units proceeded to speak Japanese. There may be something different with campaing but i have yet to properly play those, but it does seem to be handled weirdly.

By me its as you said:

But all units recruited in the military academy speak german....

why didn't the developers just add an option to change the language? That would make much easyier...

I said it in first comment unfortunately you can only change all but not individually, and you do that as you would with some other Steam games, properties, language [or whatever it is on German for you] and then pick, most are voiced with exceptions like Italian which aren't. This was probably done to save space, though this is more seen with some larger games.
I don't know if it would be possible to copy game text from like another language, download something like chinese language and then replace just text with files copied.

So all units should speak a combination of: the language you are playing the game in (ENG, GER etc) AND they will have have Chinese/Japanese etc voice lines. If you're having issues with mixed text languages, verify the integrity of the game file.

Login to the Steam client
Within Library, right-click on Stronghold Warlords and select Properties
Select the Local Files tab and click the Verify Integrity of Game Cache... button.
Steam will check all the game files were downloaded correctly. This process may take several minutes. If any files are missing Steam will download them the next time you run the game.

You can also change the language of the game (this will change all text and instructions also) through Steam. Right click on the game, Properties, Language.

The last two days I tried a lot that reinstalled the game (of course all the folders in which the warlords files were left were manually deleted) but as you wrote that Japanese troops, strictly speaking, I now include the samurai and the nijas speaking Japanese is not right!
For me, ALL units that come from the military academy speak GERMAN.

I now play in japanese without any knowledge of japanese

I am confused. I play the french edition and am still in the first campaign but many of my soldiers speak chinese in my vietnamese campaign. Some people i know told me the same thing. Are soldiers in the vietnamese campaign supposed to speak vietnamese? Thanks

The barracks units should speak Vietnamese and Chinese. For example, the tribesman and the blowpipers are the Vietnamese only speaking units, but an entire campaign with just those units would be quite dull so they get support from the Chinese speaking auxiliary units to bolster their forces.

However, when it comes to the Japanese campaign, all the barracks units will speak Japanese and that's because we have full Japanese audio support and wanted to make use of that. Hope that makes sense!

That's at least the case with me
