The vast majority of people still playing/caring about this franchise are the same kind of guys playing crusader on gameranger.
Every flaw an RTS has becomes a lot worse once it gets to multiplayer.
It’s not unenjoyable but they missed the mark completely when it comes to the target audience. This the negative reaction.
Again, the game ain’t straight up bad, it just isn’t what most people following this game wanted.
Its legit one of the lowest effort games firefly has put out. They just took crusader 2, slapped an Asian theme on it and called it a day. Its just pathetic really.
People were expecting just a reskinned stronghold 2 but with better pathfinding, etc. The developers removed obnoxious mechanics, such as the "honor" and "dung/rat" management, which arguably didn't really do much since the core gameplay of the stronghold series was economy management (and the big part of it was WHEN you place down buildings, and the priority of it), castle building, and unit composition.
Meanwhile, look at franchises that are too afraid to try something different, like the cod series. That is because most gaming audiences are stagnant lemmings who dont even know what they want, when they like something, they dont want it changed
But when developers dont change the game, they call the game "dead".
But when the existing framework is built up, you get trashed on with people saying, "omg so much DLC!".
If they didn't have the words "stronghold" the game would receive much more positive reviews. The game is much more polished than SH3, SH2, and SH legends. SH2 may have more features and units, but not all of them were useful and was poorly balanced and very unpolished. SH warlords did the exact opposite: quality over quantity, but most stronghold "fans" were looking for just an asian-skinned SH2.
You are so wrong I don't know where to start so I will keep it short: the Stronghold fans wanted an improved Stronghold game in the same setting. There was a lot in the previous Stronghold games that didn't work well or was just not possible at all, Like the limited ammount of players you could have in a game, we wanted more base building options etc.
Oh right. You are one of those "Your opinion is wrong" people. Gotcha.
I mean, you do you. But, the hole you are digging for yourself right now ain't gonna make you look good in the slightest. But, I doubt you care much about that which kinda make me question why act like I should.
This is exactly why I hate engaging with zealots and also why you are now in my block list. Have a wonderful day.
