Great game why the negative reviews??
Campaign and DLC are excellent, 60 hours in it, almost half way through....just this is worth the cost....No idea about multiplayer, but I'm sure it's good....what's the prob ya wankers lol.

No idea about multiplayer might be a huge pointer as to why you don’t get it.

The vast majority of people still playing/caring about this franchise are the same kind of guys playing crusader on gameranger.

Every flaw an RTS has becomes a lot worse once it gets to multiplayer.

It’s not unenjoyable but they missed the mark completely when it comes to the target audience. This the negative reaction.

Again, the game ain’t straight up bad, it just isn’t what most people following this game wanted.

It crashes randomly for people, the AI is either utterly broken or so overpoweredly cracked and the economy and building system is probably the second most laughably bad take on it that the Stronghold series has ever had.

Its legit one of the lowest effort games firefly has put out. They just took crusader 2, slapped an Asian theme on it and called it a day. Its just pathetic really.

I for one liked the change of scenery from Europe, but to each his own. I also liked the Warlords, and a lot of old stronghold fans for some reason disliked them and the change from European. I loved the old games, but this was a nice fresh take on the series imho. I bought a second copy so my son and I can play together on ocasion so the MP is great when it works. I will say there have been a few times the servers were down or something and we were unable to play. SP is also great though!

That is what people do when developers try anything new. Look at every game series that does something different with their franchise, such as changing the setting, or adding a new major mechanic. They are always hated, atleast during launch.

People were expecting just a reskinned stronghold 2 but with better pathfinding, etc. The developers removed obnoxious mechanics, such as the "honor" and "dung/rat" management, which arguably didn't really do much since the core gameplay of the stronghold series was economy management (and the big part of it was WHEN you place down buildings, and the priority of it), castle building, and unit composition.

Meanwhile, look at franchises that are too afraid to try something different, like the cod series. That is because most gaming audiences are stagnant lemmings who dont even know what they want, when they like something, they dont want it changed

But when developers dont change the game, they call the game "dead".

But when the existing framework is built up, you get trashed on with people saying, "omg so much DLC!".

If they didn't have the words "stronghold" the game would receive much more positive reviews. The game is much more polished than SH3, SH2, and SH legends. SH2 may have more features and units, but not all of them were useful and was poorly balanced and very unpolished. SH warlords did the exact opposite: quality over quantity, but most stronghold "fans" were looking for just an asian-skinned SH2.

Friend and I like the game but have only finished 2 of the 12+ games we have started because of freezing issues

They missed the mark big time, and instead of licking their wounds they doubled down on the failure by adding dev blog videos and DLC's hoping to turn it around. That was a really bad move. They should have just listened to the Stronghold fans or just make a game that did not use the Stronghold name so it wouldn't have been shuch a dissapointment for the true fans of the franchise.

You are so wrong I don't know where to start so I will keep it short: the Stronghold fans wanted an improved Stronghold game in the same setting. There was a lot in the previous Stronghold games that didn't work well or was just not possible at all, Like the limited ammount of players you could have in a game, we wanted more base building options etc.

Slice you don't even own the game so why are you nagging us about how bad this game is when we already know it is the best one? What do you gain from hating on this game and the fans?
Don't want to sound like an ass but it ain't impossible that he either refunded or bought it on GoG.

A lot of vague, weird complaints from another loser that does not even own the game. Why do you losers hang out here to hate on this game?
I actually do own it on GoG. Which is exactly why I brought it up. Why are you so bitter about me having a whole different idea of what this franchise should be?

Oh right. You are one of those "Your opinion is wrong" people. Gotcha.

you diagnosed your knee-jerk reaction exactly. Why the hate for the game? Why not just leave it alone and go play whatever game does not offend you so deeply?
I do still care about the franchise and I comment here once in a blue moon. Is this forum yours or something? I don't remember any rule preventing me from giving my 2c once in a while.

I mean, you do you. But, the hole you are digging for yourself right now ain't gonna make you look good in the slightest. But, I doubt you care much about that which kinda make me question why act like I should.

This is exactly why I hate engaging with zealots and also why you are now in my block list. Have a wonderful day.
