Clamp detachment explosive bolts near end game - how do you do?

So trying to do the explosive bolts in the 3 corridors near the end of the game, and can't figure out how to get them all in time - i can do the N,S,E,W bolts but how to you pick the diagonal bolts in between? - I have only keyboard and mouse and can't for the life of me figure out how to highlight those. Want to finish this game and these are driving me crazy.

Don't have a controller so not an option.

For the diagonal bolts you have to press 2 keys then the mouse.
For example, if you want the bolt between N and E, you would press both keys for N & E at the same time

if the keyboard does not have a good enough n-key rollover factor it will not work

Thanks - tried it but just aint nimble enough in my old age with the keyboard - pity as they had mostly decent puzzles throughout the game, and then throw this totally different timed dexterity X 3 test - disappointing...Still liked most of the game however..pleasant diversion..

So just decided to watch the ending on you tube and call it a day instead of get frustrated...

or pick up an xbox 360/one/ones or ds3/ds4 controller
using a controller on the game is not bad

Wow, imagine getting that far in the game, but then failing and missing out on the ending because you lack the desterity to press WASD.

Yeah, just use a controller. You're not suited for keyboards.

Top left diagonal, W and A together; top right diagonal W and D together; bottom left diagonal, A and S together; bottom right diagonal, S and D together. Total pain but I hope this helps.

Was a bit stressed though as the first time I also wasn't sure what it wants even :D

I'm pretty sure I failed that but the station compartment still separated. When it comes to the same puzzle later in the game where you go down to the planet it has to be completed. I never thought I could do it but I managed it somehow.

I apologize if I sound ignorant about game play. I'm old and new :) I too have just the keyboard. When I press the key where the wheel is spinning over, I see the spot outlined, but it doesn't matter what key I hit, nothing happens. No green color change as in the guides. My puzzle always starts on the S (bottom circle) and so I click S and I try clicking the RETURN key (nothing); the LEFT-MOUSE (nothing); the RIGHT-MOUSE (nothing). Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Thank you in advance too :)

When I click the selected spot (wsda or ws wa sd sa) the ACTIVATION KEY doesn't work. I can press the left mouse button 20 times and nothing.

This minigame kind of sucks ... at least you can retry it once the timer runs out. The first MG of this type wasn't so tolerant. Half the time was over when I finally worked out what I have to do ...
Once failed, the NPC did the workaround.

Same here. I ended up using a controller for mini-games and mouse and keyboard for the rest.

I'm stuck on the same minigame, but with a controller. I'm not seeing a cursor, so it's dumb luck if I can highlight one of the latches at all, and when I do manage to highlight the right one, no combination of button presses does anything. Does anyone have any advice?
Edit: I figured it out. What I ended up doing was using mouse and keyboard to complete the puzzle. I found that holding down the combination of WASD that allowed me to select a given clamp and then clicking did what the game wanted

Maybe that would be possible with a controller too, but from my experience any diagonal direction is the combination of the neighbor up/down and left/right direction.

But a controller isn't as sensitive when it comes to targeting as a mouse is.
