Constantly changing resolution
Anyone figure out a way to keep this damn game from *constantly* changing the resolution on me? It refuses to keep it at 1920x1080 (my monitor and thus desktop resolution), seemingly changing it randomly as I play the game.

I tried changing things in the registry but it just seems to completely ignore that and change it back to whatever it feels like. I tried changing "Dropdown_Resolution" to "A" and then leaving the height and width at 1080 and 1920, but then upon restarting the game, it had changed the quality.

I'm enjoying the game thus far (had to use a controller - keyboard was basically a big ol' nope as I couldn't even complete the beginning of the game with it), but this is absolutely going to drive me insane.

Hi, I noticed that if I turn off the fullscreen mode, then the resolution stays put (at least for me). I know it is annoying, but still a way better experience with the border and all, than the low res ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ...

Ah nevermind ... after restarting the game it messes up everything again and again ... what a crapload of hot garbage.

I'm glad it's not just me! I've been fighting against this constantly! I find myself squinting at the screen wondering if the camera is supposed to be so fuzzy only to remember that I should change the resolution. Sometimes I find it changing within less than a minute!

Yup same issue here. Keeps defaulting to 1600x900 for some reason after a few minutes of gameplay. Makes it hard to read the module text on SamOS.

I'm having same issue. Mine keeps dropping to 1366 x 768.
Clearly this is a common problem, but no fix from the developer.
I have logged a support request to see if I can get this looked at.

WTF. Is this still a thing?
Installing to have a look...

Edit: Game started up in 4k and stays there. But I do remember problems when I bought it. I had a 1680 x 1050 ( 16:10 ) monitor. That sucked.
I wouldn't hold my breath regarding a fix. Game's years old by now.

I just bought the game on GOG a few days back and it is permanently stuck at 720p for me, can't even change it backed temporarily. It just changed resolution mid-gameplay one time and that was that.
Probably won't ever be fixed, but I'll still add my 5 cents. Bug still exists, game keeps dropping to 1600x900.

Back in April, I did submit a support request to No Code. It took them ages to send a response, but I did get a reply back at the end of July.

This is what they said:

"Hi there,

Apologies for the late response. This is a known issue and we have a patch update that will potentially fix this. However, we are a bit swamped with work but we'll get it out as soon as possible!

For the moment, you can customise the resolution (not the ideal way though, of course):

Open regedit (Simply search for it in Windows)
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> No Code Studio -> Observation
Setting Dropdown_Resolution to decimal value 14 (hex 'e')
Setting Screenmanager Resolution Height & Width to your desired resolution

Apologies for the inconvenience,
NC"

Obviously only attempt this if you are confident to mess with the Windows registry.
This is entirely at your own risk. It would be wisdom to set a restore point beforehand.

also, once you've set this in regedit, leave the 'Observation' item highlighted on the LH side of the editor and use the 'export' option in the regedit menu, save the exported .reg file to desktop (name it something useful) and it will export the settings for Observation settings only. Then, before launching the game, just double click this .reg file (as if you were opening a program), accept the warning and it will load the resolution changes in without having to use regedit again. Much safer than re-editing the registry each time with the continuous chance of making a mistake.
