HeXen II
Any way to get music working with the FTE port?
Does anyone know how to get the music working when playing Hexen II with the FTE port: http://fte.triptohell.info/

I'm using FTE because I like the realtime lighting, and it's not capped at 72 fps like Hammer of Thyrion. However for some reason I can't get the music working. I've tried dragging the music folder into the data1 folder, the fte folder and the id1 folder but it doesn't work in any of them. The in-game menu doesn't have any options to enable music either, just a music volume slider.

Edit- I found a workaround for now. In the console you can type, for example, music casa1.ogg and it'll start playing the track.

Sorry for the necro, but I just found a Fix for the music.
Just rename the 16 OGG files inside Data1/Music from track02.ogg to track17.ogg
Then make sure to check your music volume in the FTE options because for some reason it's all the way down by default.
DATA1\sound\cdtracks\track01,ogg is how i got it to work also
Just wanted to clarify this for anyone wondering.

FTE is the superior port for running Hexen 2.

To get the CD music to work:

In the DATA1 folder of your Hexen 2 install, create a folder sound
In that sound folder create a folder cdtracks

Copy all 16 .ogg files from the Music folder in your install into:
DATA1\sound\cdtracks\

Doesn't work for some reason, I still have to use the console to force tracks to play.

-edit I got it working. I found a soundtrack someone uploaded in .ogg format and had to put it in the data1/music directory. Then I changed all the track names to track02.ogg, track03.ogg, etc.

Also I've found other issues with FTE, like the inability to gib dead bodies. If that's not working correctly then who knows what else is broken.

I found that same soundtrack and was pulling my hair out trying to get the ogg files to play while using FTE. Worked fine in HoT, just not FTE. I renamed them just like you mentioned and boom, they started playing. Thanks!
Just place the .ogg files in this folder:

..\steamapps\common\Hexen 2\fteh2\sound\cdtracks

(if doesn't exists, just create them)
How do you get soundtrack to work for the off portal of pervases(sic) or new mission FTEQW?
Check manual above, additional point 1 after main point 12.

This is the guide that helped me get everything working. The music tracks were missing when Steam installed the game. Not sure what's up with that but oh well. Anyway, once I popped the music into the right folder (Hexen 2\data1\music) and installed the FFMPEG library from within the FTEQW updates menu, music works fine for me.

Thanks ! it works great for me
Necro post again as reading through this was confusing to get the final result;

1. Have Hexen II - Steam / GOG etc
2. Have FTE port - http://fte.triptohell.info/
3. Obtain the .ogg files - https://archive.org/details/HexenIISoundtrackOgg
4. Extract .ogg files to -SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Hexen 2\data1\music (create if not there)
5. Rename the .ogg files to track01.ogg, track02.ogg up to track16.ogg
6. Run FTE and the music will work (ensure music volume is up as it was 0 by default for me)
