hexan 2 wont start

i tried to get this game to run, but it wont boot up. the other 2 hexans game will play and they are older. Can someone help me out with this issue, please?

Same with me. I bought the Hexen/Heretic pack and this game just crashes on launch.

OK I downloaded the stuff from Zdoom.org/downloads and it still will not launch. I bought the heretic/hexen pack. And everything but Hexen2 plays. am I doing something wrong or can I get help to get it to load. :) thanks

Zdoom is for Doom engine games https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doom_engine#Games_using_the_Doom_engine

Hexen2 uses the Quake 1 engine (uhexen2.sourceforge.net supports)

then why was it mentioned earlier. idk what the hell is going on but i can't play the second one every time it loads it crashes. doesn't even get to the main screen. i push play it starts then right away stops. I WANT TO PLAY THE 3rd one but because no one is giving me a damn straight answer i wasted 10 bucks on the pack of heretic/ hexen games.

For Hexen 2 you need to use Hexen II: Hammer of Thyrion not gzdoom.

Thanks. I appologize for the anger. it is still fustrating not getting A program to work. Well I have downloaded just about everything from that website. and NOTHING is letting Hexen 2 work. I have uninstalled and renstalled it all trying to get it work but its not working. I have windows 10 and the other 3 programs from the Heretic and hexen pack are working except this Hexen 2.

With Heretic/Hexen you need the .wad data files. With Quake/Hexen2 you need the .pak data files.

Download this source port version if on 64 bit

If on 32 bit

http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?group_id=124987&filename=hexen2-1.5.8-win32.zip

Then extract anywhere you want.

Copy the 2 .pak files, pak0.pak and pak1.pak from

C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Hexen 2\data1

and paste to the extracted source port location

C:\hexen2-1.5.8-win64\hexen2-1.5.8\data1

then run using glh2.exe

I hope this works it is for me on win 10 pro 64 bit

Wel... now i have issues with this.... I got it running, but the controls are royally jacked up. I tried swtiching the key basic movement to corrispond to typical "A , S, D, W" but A & D do no side step, it turns the view completly. Also, I activted the option to use the mouse, but anytime I click to attack, it exits me out of the game completly (its still is running however in the bottom task bar)

Advice?

Nevermind, figured it out. Apprently their was 2 olaunch files in that patch download. One was crap, the other worked. idk
