Artisan Stencils Question, help pls?

Does anyone know what decides if you can make a stencil of an armour piece?

Example: Buffalo Leather Armour, wore it once, got the stencil unlocked, I can use that skin for any heavy armour now. Buffalo Leather Hat does NOT unlock the stencil when I wear it. Same with Buffalo Leather Boots. Dos anyone know why this is?

More info: I got the body armour as a battle reward, I bought the other two from the Auctioneer, could this be why? Any info is greatly apreciated thanks :D

Bump. No-one knows what the rules of Stencils are?

You have to wear piece of gear at least once in order to make stencil.Also stencils only apply to correct armor,heavy only for heavy etc,

Thanks for your input, I thought the same BUT I have worn MANY items of armour that I have not got stencils for. Been putting on everything I find/ am given as loot, and haven't got a new stencil (even for items I've never seen or worn before) in the last 2 days.

So, there is some other factor here. Are there a max number of stencils per character? Are there some factors that disallow the player to learn the stencil of that item? Are there just not stencils of many bits of armor? Can anyone shed more light on this?

Nobody will tell you anything more cos theres nothing more to it.Only explanation is you are doing something wrong,like trying to apply medium stencil to heavy armor,or you never wore piece before.

Well, I'm not a moron, when I equipped new armors at first I saw the text on screen saying something along the lines of "New Stencil aquired" (never bothered to make a note of it) and all those stencil I have.

I understand I cannot put a light armor stencil on a medium or heavy, etc. Please consider that I'm not a moron :D

Same problem, my guy. I've equipped a bunch of different armors for every armor type and so far only the light armor ones actually saved. And only for the chest. None of the other slots.
