Pick the weapon(s) you like and learn how to best use it?
Remember: Everything can happen on battlefield, so don't worry about 'meta' things, ya hear?
Enjoy the game. ^^
Ranged vs duel blade ,generally duelblade can kill, again no units
Duel blade vs poleaxe ,Poleaxe can beat them by sheer CC they can do
but you have several soft counters and hard counters for some
Knife > Ult > animation cancel > You get tons of free damage on them
Shortsword is high armor (far higher than longsword on the same build due to ironsides) and has thunder struck (better than shield charge) and more damage
Poleaxe is just in general good (I will agree it is slow but you got CC city)
What? You can buy gear and weapons now? Or are you a lier?
Both of these classes can be heavily by situational awareness and not giving them an angle from witch to strike. Longbows can't pierce shields at all. IF the highground can be denied from a longbow, he can easily be blocked by a couple of shield units. If he gets the highground, you can anticipate it and often times dodge out of the way to minimize his impact on the game.
Also longbow has recently even been nerfed unanounced. Damge he's dealing when shooting uphill has been heavily deminished. Causing you to often times not even oneshot archers on highground.
For Dualblade, once you battle opponents with some spacial awareness, you will only rarely be able to creep up on someone. Sneaking around to take a unlikely route is a long time you aren't commanding your units. Leaving your team vulnerable.
The new toxic rune sort of vindicates it, since you can heavily damage fortified position given the opportunity.
Other contenders in my mind would be Shortbow, but they have gotten what must be the best runeset this season (free extra damage regardless of skills used) and extra armor penetration (if they choose to take that aswell)
And of course Nodachi wich is notorious for having worse performance the higher tier the game is. Altrough they seem to have gotten a renaissance with the decreasing numbers of shield units
