do you expect anything less from these devs? i wonder how many exmaul players forked over $ to play the new and improved broken class right when it came out. class is a joke that takes 0 skill with abilities that constantly come off of cooldown right as ur last used ability was used. thus chaining ability after ability that cc on every hit. not even a pike class. its just a broken hero version of the spear class. pikes are long weapons not a 6ft spear........ gj devs

Yes pikes are obnoxious, and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ 30hz servers don't really help in catching up to them either. But contrary to the Hammer, pike is not a pay to win weapon at all, it is insanely quick to unlock for free.

While i certainly believe Pike is currently overtuned, it is the furthest thing from a no skill weapon. It is so easy to accidentally jump into situations you can't handle and hard CC just flat out deletes you much quicker than most other classes.

If you are struggling with Pike i suggest you try playing Poleaxe, Dualblade or any other class with good lockdown. Its actually quite fun letting them suffer ;)

As a maul player I can confirm that I get wrecked by pikes, they seem to be a natural counter to slow heavy armor classes.

I unlocked pike and tried it, and it is indeed very very strong once you get used to it. I won't be switching though, it fulfills a different role.

I imagine spear players are switching though, it feels like a stronger spear.

Uncontrollable class, which controls with mobility, damage and range.

Why play another weapon when this one does it all ?

What are developers waiting for? Maybe the players are all playing the same weapon ... or just that they are tired of playing.

When will the balancing be done ?

Pike player here, it isn't OP at all, in my opinion. Gotta play on the side of caution or else you will EASILY over extend yourself and get killed. Its only good move is its lunging ult and the second one after. Just because its a decent counter to those who are in heavy(finally) doesn't mean it needs nerfing. We need proper counters for the heavy classes in this game. Not more heavy armour op players.

Ranged weapons are already very good against the "Heavy". Not to mention the Heavy which counter each other and the double blades which are able to win all the sides if they are played well.

I am always for a balancing of the spades. Well played she is unmistakable.

The problem is that she is not strong only against the heavyweights, you play the Lance, you have no chance. I think there are no real counterparts apart from the double blades. And again Even shortbow, you must be too close to your target not to be in danger facing the spike.

Well not exactly, only the Shortbow does have a good matchup against heavy classes due to his high ammount of armor reduction. Longbow and Musket can only really be a nuisence but they don't have real killpressure on heavy classes if you are not overextending. Especially with extra armor investments,

Heavy classes are in fact counter to Longbow & Muskets as they can rush them down relatively savely or at the very least deny them a good poistion to be impactful.

But i have to agree on the second part. The things that make Pike strong are not only effective against heavy armor. Low armor targets also get staggered by pike and bursted. Especially medium armor glaive, hammer and spear seem to get completely shafted. Noone can outrun them, even people in low armor get run down since pike has superior mobility.

Increasing the CD of the escape from 3 seconds to something more in line of the 10+ second CD escapes other classes have would put it more in line.

Only thing I disagree with here is your comment that heavy classes do well against musket. Maul gets wrecked by musket as musket can just knock you down and kite you around the map. Total waste of time to engage a musket as a maul unless you get the drop and kidnap.

For me, currently the top 3 weapons in the game, the most in descending order is :

1) Pike. (Hard Control, Hard Mobility, Hard Dammage. PVP or PVE.. It's the winning cocktail, too versatile.)

2) Double Blades. ( Well played is by far the best PVP class, but it only serves that purpose. )

3) Musket. ( It is the most versatile ranged weapon.. PVP, PVE, survival, dammage, control. )

A well played musket is untouchable and will stop multiple advances/charges at the same time.

There is nothing more frightful than walking up a siege tower and get stared down by a musket player at the other end.

Every other class you can play around, not musket.

If you have trouble with pike play poleaxe and lock it down. Pike ♥♥♥♥♥ on Longsword and Shortsword tho.

And yes, it does take 0 skill. I don't get many kills playing Longsword but I ran Pike for the challenges and got some 8 hero kill streak games. Doesn't even matter if you dont know the combo, in random sieges atleast. Just press the buttons quickly, lol.

The pike seems to take a bit more skill than maul. I main a LS and have run into tons of pikes that I can kill.

But no class in this game is balanced, pike's ability came with no surprise at all. I can see most maul players complain about pike as it serves a nature counter role, just as poleaxe is a natural counter to pike.
