how do you get permanent doctrines?
New player here, so far the only doctrines I've picked up have been temporary ones. I've seen videos of people with permanent ones but don't know how you go about getting those. Any advice is appreciated.

You need to get "Treatise" and unlock them randomly. If you press "X" (default key) you'd go into the Scholar page and see 3-4 missions which you can do. Some of them require "Signaculum" which basically allows you to unlock an unit without spending honour to do so as long as you collect 20 of these signaculum for that unit.

The other mission you can do on that menu is to use ur "Treatise" and although most of the rewards are random, they're in a loot pool where for example if it's the "Rare Defense Infantry" mission going on, all the rewards you receive will be defense related.

There are also a "Rare Attack Cavalry" and "Rare Attack Ranged" units missions which gives you attack related doctrines if you use your Treatise, besides obviously the chance on getting a rare specific doctrine.

You can also salvage the doctrines you dont want or won't use to get currency which allows you to trade for several things you can find out on the left tabs of that same menu.

TLDR:

2 types of missions for doctrines on Scholar page, for defense doctrines and for attack doctrines. You'll get mostly random common/uncommon doctrines attack or defense doctrines and rarely the one you're looking for the specific Infantry/Ranged or Cavalry.

There're also permanent doctrines which are unit specific from the Seasonal Unit Challenges and others you can acquire from the Path challenges.

thanks for the explanation, so just for clarification, can you get permanent doctrines with the treaties/excavation or are those temporary?

Also, where is the path of challenges? I don't think I've seen that.
