That said, if you really want to stay far from AIOs, then I would suggest on running a beefier air cooler.
The game might be faulty for absolutely eating the CPU, but it is not its fault for the overheating, it is yours for understimating your CPU TDP.
Facts are: your cooler is not enough.
Winter is coming anyway, so you might get away with the cooler house temps.
Cheers mate o/
The reason i asked about smoking and older cpu is it is entirely possible that either the heatsink is not working properly or the thermal compound is a problem.
The witcher 3 comparison doesnt hold weight here.
Each thread of your cpu has a diffrent task on most games only 1 thread is near max (render) in this multiple threads are causing heat buildup.
Having 1k units on field isnt just a hassle to render you have phisics and ai for each of those units, as well most of the calculations are done client side as well.
As well my cpu doesnt ever go above 45c because my ambiant is 18c fan curve is max at all times and i run an open air case with no overclock and usually an underclock.
Its not like this problem was already talked through and at one point back before the open beta release, the devs responded that there is an issue and they are looking into it but since then nothing was done about it. Its fact that some people have this issue me included and it isnt the fault of a dusty pc or bad cpu cooling its just the bad cooding of the game
I use it with my pc aswell it works like a charm
Go to your energy plan/powerplan settings find advanced options find processor you see max processor usage or something like that set it to 99% instead of 100 this does make sure the processor doesn't uses its boost
Helps in alot of situations and this is one of them, enjoy it shouldn't affect performance that much either. Think from my knowings boost clocks atleast from what I've heard we're ment to run for small durations while gaming isn't really one of them. Unless you can obviously maintain the temperatures like some more advanced users can.
