Glass cannons but much worse in my opinion.
The only reason is lack wedge formation.
Spread and line formations are too wide to be very effective and do not fit most of maps (terrain hazards stop some of units).
Generally I still prefer Coutiliers and Ironcaps. Cheaper (green horses and green kits), less leadership and more effective.
I'm not really fan of archers but they also seem less effective than their western and Eastern counterparts.
I have noticed reduction in damage output from western arquebuses. Is this same for the eastern units?
East swords tier3 used to be really good cheap unit, have they also been modified? Seem to deal less damage now...

on units, most western unit are inferior to easterrn ones to a point that a lots of clan even in ostaria use eastern unit exclusively even if it cost them tons of bronze and silver
good offfender are the desmene archer and long bow man inferior to militia and prefecture archers... and halbardier inferior to pike militia- better both at bracing and fighting
wot? I main javalins and in my experience they destroy everything except for cavalry (if charged into) and IR/Prefecture guard/Palace Guard
Which they aren't supposed to be able to kill.
Dont forget they are the anti archer troop as well, they literally shred archers.
the Imperial Javalineers are the best, then srg's, the low tier javs are meh
Longbows are the best archer unit in the game on certain maps, but they need honor upgrades and max level + doctrines.
Halbs are formation fighters, but TBH with spear sarg's they feel obsolete.
make most of the info on units preview useless...
Unfortunately a lot of player won't get and won't have seargent units for a long time not because of honor but because of bronze price of kit and the unability to build said kit easily, At least its not easy to find guide that explaine anywhere how to easily get even small quantities of golden and heroic age units kits
ironcap arbeq - great for last siege point, when people bunch up and it's all flat land
woodcutters - siege towers, or suicide mission when team is turtling, and need someone to initiate
pike militia - wreaks all cavs when braced, or to turtle behind a shieldwall
ironcap archers - i use these after point A has been captured, as enemy archers are going to outrange you at the beginning... but these archers do well during close range
