"Remote Recommended" and not loading fixed.

Like everyone, I was having the same issue but I've just managed to fix it but some buggery.

The issue is that it's creating a FOLDER instead of a FILE, so the folder can't have the extension '.save' at the end of it.

Here is what I did to fix it, I got this to work on macOS, not sure about Windows. It might be a little long-winded, but these are the exact steps I did without cutting any corners.


Try this:

1. Make sure you have a shortcut for Heave Ho set up.

2. Close out of both Steam and Heave Ho.

3. Navigate to: '/Library/Application Support/Le Cartel Studio/HeaveHo/Save'

4. Look inside that folder. There should be a subfolder called 'HeaveHo##################.save' with numbers instead of the '#'.

5. Copy the 'HeaveHo##################.save' folder name and delete the folder.

6. Open TextEdit and create a new file. In the top bar, select 'Format', and then choose 'Make Plain Text'. Leave the text empty.

7. Name the TextEdit file the same as the folder name you copied earlier. Save it to '/Library/Application Support/Le Cartel Studio/HeaveHo/Save'.

8. There is some timing involved: Open Heave Ho from the shortcut. This should load up steam first. As soon as it creates a folder, delete it straight away. If it makes another one before getting to the 'Remote Recommended' screen, delete it again. Assuming you have deleted the folder, it should load correctly.
