DOOM 3
Doom 3 (non-BFG) fails to launch on windows 7 64bit
As the title suggests I can't get this title to launch. I get no error messsanges or anythng indicating why it is not working. I have tried updating my video drivers after doing a complete purge of them (including registery files), updating directx via M$. I have also Re installed Doom 3 as well as applied the 1.3.1 patch. Using windows compatability also failed:

My Specs:
Nvidia MSI GTX 480 GPU
Intel I5 CPU
Creative X-Fi sound
6 GB DDR 3 RAM
Windows 7 64bit - Home Premium

Any Ideas

I also have the same problem
if possible, try and upgrade to windows 7 pro or ultimate, and run it in windows xp mode.
do this .....local disc (C), program files x86, steam, steamapps, common, doom 3, now right click on the actual game file (this will be the one that identifies itself as an application, go to properties than go to compatibility tab you will see a box for compatibility mode, select xp service pack 3 than click apply the game should now work.

Nope. Pretty sure it's my computer anyhow.

I just bought it and it doesn't boot up either:

Specs:
GPU: Geforce GTX 670
CPU: Intel Core i5 3570k Ivy Bridge
Mobo: Asus Maximus V Gene
RAM: Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600
OS: Windows 7 64 Bit Home Prem.

I bought this about 6 hours ago, I have not been able to get this thing to boot up.

I tried the suggestion above, nothing seems to work. I've since sent a message to Steam support hopefully I can get some help or a refund.
I contacted Steam, they said take it to id Software (the makers of the game). Id Software doesn't take support directly, so I took it to their publisher. Bethesda claims that it's "Steam's" fault and not the games. In other words, Steam doesn't give ♥♥♥♥ what issue you're having, just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ deal with it. I don't like that attitude steam or is it Microsoft? You two seem similar to me.

Dell Inspiron N5050 Laptop
Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
intel Core 2nd Gen i3-2350M 2.3GHz Processor (intel HD Graphics 3000)
6GB DDR3 SDRAM @1333MHz

Able to Run:
Burnout Paradise [Ultimate Box]
3.0GHz Pentium IV Processor
1.5GB RAM (Vista)
128MB GPU

Yet Steam will not let this run:
Doom 3 (2005)
1.5GHz Pentium IV Processor
384MHz RAM
64MB GPU

It's not steam's fault. I have purchased this game at a Goodwill for $2 scratch-less with code and all and i am having this issue too. It is not linked to steam

The game installed like any other game bought on disk. I played it 3 times just fine with no error. When i tried booting it for a fourth time it showed up with the error "Please login with administrator privileges and try again" Sure enough i ran as admin and nothing happened. When i try to set the compatibility mode to xp service pack 3, the screen spazzes out but the game does not run. I really don't know what to do about this anymore. should i just try to reinstall?

I am having this same issue. Bought the game (not through steam; and I am getting the exact same behavior. I added it to Steam so I could implement fixes I have seen on this site slike adding "+set r_fullscreen 0" to the launcher; or even adding "+set r_fullscreen 0 +set r_windowHeight 1280 +set r_windowWidth 1024 +set r_customHeight 1280 +set r_customWidth 1024 +set g_fov 90 +set r_multiSamples 8". None of this has had any positive effect. I have every possible compatibility setting and am running as admin. Still this game will not launch.
If changing compatablity mode and running as administrator doesn't work
try using doom 3 source port dhewm:

Many Windows 7 users are / were given the opportunity to upgrade for free to Windows 10, as I did on my last computer.

Your GFX card is…um…kinda lackluster? Please, I'm not slamming, fronting, or dissing—just the facts, Jack. Still, a game this old, that card should be fine, was better than a LOT of cards in use when this game was first released. However, that card will NOT handle most other games released today…but, you probably already know that.

Good luck, and I hope you enjoy your experience. Myself, I had never played this particular game before; I'm trying it for the first time.
