DOOM3 on Linux?
As DOOM3 already runs on Linux would it be possible to sell DOOM3 for Linux using the beta Steam client that will hopefully come to Linux in the near future?

Yes, I'm pretty sure that as soon as Steam for Linux gets somewhat more stable they will eventually release all of id software's legendary games, as all of them have native Linux client. DOOM III will probably be one of the first we will see along with Quake IV since they have the easiest launcher and binaries.

I'm confused as well. What's strange is that there isn't actually much to set up Doom 3 on Linux. It uses the exact same files that are on Windows except for the installation script, which is on id's FTP server. Tried it on Ubuntu 13.04, and it runs great. So what's the deal?

+1 I'm just waiting until it will be released for Linux under Steam to buy it.

Hiya, I noticed that you did this wintroll post and you didn't get any responses, so I'm just responding so that you don't feel like an abject failure. In future you may find having some knowledge about the thing you're trolling quite useful - if you need some help with this in future wintroll attempts, please message me =)

I suspect we won't be getting the Linux ports of id games anytime soon. But it might not be all their fault... don't forget that its Zenimax who tells them what they can do business wise.
