Just wanna ask if there are still people who play the doom 3 multiplayer or multiplayer mods?!? and is the bfg and original compatible multiplayerwise?

I'm thinking about getting it, but I would also like to know if people still play multiplayer, that would help in making the decision to buy it. And knowing if they are compatible would be great, because I don't want to buy BFG but I know that's what most people are going to get. I do know, if I recall correctly, there is a coop mod, so that's probably worth it.
