[Resolved] Perfected Doom 3 Mod crash
I've just installed DOOM 3 fresh (not BFG edition), and threw the Perfected Doom 3 Mod and the 6.2.3 patch on top of it. Then opened the game and went straight to the MODS menu and selected the Perfected DOOM patch.

Got this error in a console screen:

ERROR: Error: file script/weapon_shotgun.script, line 83: Unknown value "BUTTON_ZOOM"

I noticed most issues with Perfected DOOM have to do with AMD Catalyst drivers and the ATI cards. I'm using AMD Catalyst drivers with a Radeon R9 290 (ATI?). Is this error associated with the Catalyst drivers? It looks to me like a faulty line in one of the PK3 files.

Was I supposed to install the earlier patch before the 6.2.3 patch?

That does not seem to be a driver crash error. I got that error on some mods that were installed improperly. Did you install PDoom 6.0, 6.2, and 6.3 in sequence in the main doom3 folder?

That is a script error. Looks to be a macro that is being referenced but hasn't been defined/included yet.

Thanks all, it was definitely the issue that I didn't install all three in order. I just installed the first and last ones. Didn't know patch 6.2 was necessary at all.

Now it only crashes because of the Catalyst drivers. I'll see about the guide's advice on that one. I just hope removing the Catalyst drivers doesn't break Rogue System (the game that I needed the latest Catalyst drivers to get working in the first place ...).

EDIT: Removed Catalyst control center and reinstalled the latest Catalyst drivers, and now everything works. Yay! I followed that lengthy tutorial involving installing RadeonPro, and it turned out that stuff wasn't even necessary. Would have been good to know. :) Thanks for the help everybody.

There is a second issue: My display settings turn darker after running DOOM 3 and I have to restart the computer to get it back to full brightness. Is there any way I can stop that from happening?

Doom 3 will adjust system brightness while it is running but it should restore it after it closes. A quick solution would be to open up the DoomConfig.cfg file in that mod folder. Find 'seta r_brightness' and change the value to "1.0". That will keep brightness at 100% with no dimming. Unfortunetly if you want the game to be running darker this won't help :(

Thanks Phrozo, that fixed the brightness issue.

Only thing is, I neglected to read Perfected DOOM 3's full description. It completely changes the gameplay to the point that it isn't even funny. Not gonna do it. So much trouble getting the thing to work just to find out they ruined the game. Maybe if I can find a Perfected DOOM gameplay fix, but I doubt there is one.

I went ahead and installed Sikkmod, Wulfen Texture Pack, Enhanced DOOM models, HQ Main Menu, No F.E.A.R, and Trent Reznor Sound Pack separetely. Looks and plays "perfectly" now.

For others using these mods, I recommend intalling and configuring Sikkmod BEFORE installing the HQ Main Menu, as the latter will disable in-game options for Sikkmod.

No problem. Sikkmod with a combination of other mods seems to be the best way to go at the moment. There are gameplay changes with it as well but not as much as Perfected. It is also unfortunte that mods don't always blend perfectly with each other. Sometimes it isn't possible without fusing them together by hand.

I'm having this problem too, sorta. It's telling me "doom_main.script" line 60 ai_monster_flying_painelemental file not found
