I'm looking for what we see in both the base game, and The Lost Mission. I understand there were likely more, but we do not have the ability to see them, or they fall under one of the rules listed above.
You'd probably have to ignore Elizabeth's PDA though, since she got out before ♥♥♥♥ hit the fan.
That Mars' base is not that big either.
Would be cool to know though.
The base is actually pretty massive, like Black Mesa. But, again, like Black Mesa, a lot of the facility is destroyed/barred off. I'm basing this off of a video that detailed the casualties we saw in Black Mesa/Xen.
Requesting and getting off of Mars are two different things. Requests can be denied, and since the UAC in Doom 3 don't really seem to care about workers unless it effects their bottom line, I highly doubt too many people actually got off of Mars.
Not to mention that we don't really get a good scale of the base, but from what we can tell, it's massive. Let's not forget how many men, and to a lot less of an extent, women, would need to be at the facility just as a skeleton crew to keep the facility functioning. Enpro alone had numerous maintenance workers just to make sure the reactors didn't freaking explode, and someone like Steve Hammer makes note about a Drink Machine getting fired on in his area of work, so it's clear that each area has a recreation area, which is supported by the Maintenance Department video.
Not even close.
Counting up in-game PDAs, zombies, corpses, audio transmissions, casualties etc. in both The Lost Mission and the base game will take you awhile since you just want an answer for what we see in-game.
It should also be noted that the Doom Marine is found to be the lone survivor of the invasion, so the survivors you meet throughout the game should also be presumed dead
