Don't know how you feel about mods, but I avoid them especially when using Steam. Call me over cautious if you like but it all makes me nervous to even think of doing it.
Pity though as I see it would be a benefit to many folk such as yourself. I see subtitles often on YouTube vids and I can only guess that they are a part of certain game settings. Why some and not others???
There is always a way around game "faults".The problem with them not having subtitles is that they say a code for the locks, but they have all of them online. If anyone that is deaf play this game and you're trying to look up codes for this game, here they are in order:
