Missing pak000 file

I got a dvd version of the game from amazon and whenever i tried to install the game, it says that pak000 is missing. can anyone help?

That's quiet large archive! May be you could try to find the key code somewhere on the box and bind it to your steam account. In case of success the rest would be checking of cache and downloading the part you lack.

it was a used game. I found the missing files on the other discs yet when i moved them to the doom 3 folder where the pk4's go it still wouldn't work.
