DOOM 3
Absolute HD Mod
Holy crap Batman!

What a difference this mod makes playing doom 3 again. The game feels like a brand new game again! A really big thumbs up to the creator of the Sikkmod and other guys that have their modifications included in this Absolute HD mod.

After playing for several hours now, I have noticed just a few minor annoyances concerning the graphical beauty of this mod.

- I cannot have soft shadows on without getting any unexplainable fps drop. I have good enough CPU and GPU and RAM (i7 3770k, gtx 780 3gb, 8gb Gskill RAM) I can have all pretty eye candy settings on and it won't max my video card. However with soft shadows on the fps will drop to around 40fps (from a constant silky smooth 60fps). As soon as I turn soft shadows off back to silky smooth goodness.

I have also noticed that with SSAO on (any type and filter) I can notice a semi transparent square hovering around the barrel of the gun where the muzzle flash is. It seems that this square will interfere with SSAO not being filtered properly looking past this square.

I'll attach some screens if anyone wants.

Cheers.

Hey,
ABAO is working fine for me.
I got same issues with soft shadows tho , my FPS drops to 35 in certain areas, so i disabled this option, hardly can live with that but what can i do.
Any idea which Weapon Handling Type is the Dooms 3 deufalt handling type ? Coz it feels like weapons are too much inaccurate , yet i don't remeber how it was in Doom 3.

I think the semi transparent squard happens to everyone.

Yep I think so too. I thinks its just an oversight on the modders behalf and rendering hasn't been completed fully

Installed the mod in the same Steam folder as the game "steamapps>common>Doom3" but it doesn't show up as an option under "Mods" on the game menu.

I had the same problem of not getting it to work at all

but i noticed when i started the absolute hd installation program and chose the install path it was

/doom3/doom3

it repeated the same file name , so i simply deleted the extra doom 3 text in installation path and it worked!
