How to COOP?

From what I remember, cooperative play was only available on the console version of the game. Is there a COOP mode for the steam/PC version too? Cause it'd be neat to play with it with some buddies of mine

You need the Doom 3 opencoop or Last Man Standing mod. You can find them on ModDB.

Yup, both let you play the expansion and some custom maps. OpenCoop has some minor bugs though, even with latest patch. Can't speak for LMS as I haven't tried it.

This though is also pretty neat, I gave it a short run too. Seems to have you play through custom campaign maps though and the graphical changes whilst neat, did kind of ruin the horror aspect of it

Hey guys could you help me? Me and a friend of mine wanted to play the doom co-op but there is no maps "standard" of the doom3 campaign

ID and bethesda hate COOP i thinking.

official coop was dropped,
opencoop no work on linux


Opencoop have too many errors in code.
many maps like deltab2 - is inacessible for other players.
Server can plays this map other players - CANNOT.
developing opencoop is dropped

Well official coop exists but just not on PC and to be fair, Bethesda/ID are working on the other doom title so going back to three wouldn't make a lot of sense. I would love a remaster though, but I'd be very picky about it. (I also don't really consider BFG edition a remaster, didn't really add all that much to it)

Anyway, do let me know if anything does come up and should I find anything that does let me play it cooperatively I'll be sure to update the thread

Quick edit: Opencoop still has people using it and saying it works as far back as 2018. Opencoop may not be being developed further but according to a lot of people it still lets them play cooperatively though the BFG edition supposedly makes it impossible to use.

Additionally, the official coop can be played on the Xbox version of doom 3.

You could try LibreCoop for the source port dhewm3.
It's not finished yet and it has a few but it's open source.

Dude, that was 6 years ago and I removed the file from my computer after playing the game.

Anyway, I found a more recent one from the uploader's page, literally took me 5 seconds.
