I know...but not being able to see what I'm shooting at is boring,is like there's no feedback at all, i'm just pressing left button at black screen until I hear the dying scream.
saw that video too, they did this to reduce the amount of light sources...made me felt like they focused on how the game look more then how it plays,I would rather have worse graphics and better gameplay.
Well, he said it eight years since the release of the game and it looks like, that it was just an attempt to excuse the chages in BFG edition. Personnaly, I have no problem with game design of DooM 3, it's one of my favorite FPS, actually.
That said, who needs duct tape when you have map knowledge and glowing imp fireballs?
Even if the marine did find some duct tape, where would he tape it? To his gun? He's only got one flashlight, to which gun is he going to tape it? Besides, have you ever actually tried to tape an entire flashlight to a gun? I doubt it's as convenient as people make out. Maybe you could say he could tape it to his shoulder, but then he would have to reorient his entire body if he wants to point the light at a certain spot.
I've heard "oh he's so stupid he can't hold a gun and a flashlight at the same time." There's only one one-handed weapon in the game, the pistol, and even then he holds it with two hands. If you're so smart then you try and fire and reload a ♥♥♥♥♥♥' shotgun while somehow also pointing a flashlight in a useful way.
My only problem is that the flashlight is unrealistically garbage. Real flashlights don't only shoot out a tiny little beam. I guess it's because UAC is cheap but c'mon, even the cheapest real flashlight is better than Doom 3's.
idk, tape it on your right forearm? or on top of the smg,or maybe tape it like ACOG scope on top of shotgun lol. I think the flashlight only lit up a tiny circle is because Doom 3's shadow looks really dark, maybe it's a technical thing? In Quake 4,only the pistol, rifle and shotgun has flashlights. I think that works pretty well, but it's a complete different style of gameplay tho.
Kind of doubt it,too. Because there are weapons with flashlight in Quake 4 which use the same engine...or maybe they found a solution after Doom 3 released.
that won't work because the bright areas would look too bright and the pitch black area would still be black.
Well dark games in general are best played in dark rooms tbh. I'm not talking only about Doom 3 but any game that is dark. For example if I got ma windows open and it's a sunny day, it doesn't matter how bright my monitor settings are, I will still hardly see anything. So if it's night, turn the lights off and enjoy.
