if you want you can choose to have either original flashlight mechanic or a mounted light, you can have the double shotty and grabber in Doom 3 too if you have ROE.

the BFG edition is just so meh..
the lighting is ♥♥♥♥♥♥, it´s too bright and the light shader is worse than vanilla, textures looks worse and more compressed than vanilla at ultra.
the only textures they remade is Kelly and Swann and those also look better in vanilla... they also removed muzzle flashes effects and the gore is less copious.
you have way too much ammo, they also removed some enemies and an entire part of the ROE campaign plus always having flashlight just destroys the whole point of the game imo.
it´s really a crap "remaster".
I haven´t tried it yet with Lost Mission but got it to work in other custom maps, from what I saw sometimes it works and some other it doesn´t, there may be a compatibility issue if the mods change too much stuff but there is a good documentation (manual) within the mod itself which explains how to configure everything, I will try and see if I get it to work properly with Lost Mission when I get the chance and report back about it.. but the main use of CST is to play Doom 3 and ROE vanilla on modern widescreen resolutions with some few added extras but if you are looking for gameplay or graphics overhauls there are other mods around.
but I managed to get it working after a bit of initial tweaking, I just have to play it some more to see if it´s stable enough and then I will post the solution here but I am positive it should work fine.
it may take a while thought as I don´t have much time for this right now.
first obviously you should have installed and configured CST for Doom 3 and ROE, then you should have downloaded and installed the Lost Mission port.
at that point you should have the following folders in your Doom 3 directory:
base
cst_d3_a
cst_roe_a
d3xp
d3le
now copy the cst-roe-a folder (including everything inside) and rename it cst_le
your Doom 3 folder now looks like this:
base
cst_d3_a
cst_le
cst_roe_a
d3xp
d3le
now you have to copy (don´t delete anything, just copy) the lm_pak.pk4 from d3le into cst_le
at this point you create a new shortcut (you can call it CST Lost Mission) with the following address
(your Doom 3 directory)\Doom 3\cstdoom3.exe" +set fs_game cst_le +set fs_game_base d3xp
and voilà if you now start the game from that shortcut you are basically loading CST of ROE plus the Lost Mission data.
if you have done everything correctly you should now see the Lost Mission menu plus all the CST extra options like for CST Doom 3 and ROE.
to start the Lost Mission campaign, bring down the console and type
map/ game/le_enpro1
and press enter.
that´s it, now you can play Lost Mission with all the nice extras of CST like proper widescreen and fixed Hud, etc..
disclaimer:
I haven´t done a full walkthrough with it yet but played the first 3 levels and didn´t noticed any bugs so far so I thought to share how I got it to work here but if this looks too complicated to you then forget about it and just play the BFG edition.
it´s also worth noting that your base and xp folder should be clean of any other mods in order to avoid potential issues or conflicts.
EDIT: -after some more testing the last hell level of Lost Mission sadly crashes.
if I find a fix I will post it here but be aware that this workaround won´t let you play the whole thing as of right now.
apologies
I forgot in case you didn´t know you can set the difficulty with the console before starting a new playthrough, start up the mod, bring down console and before launching map/ game/le_enpro1 for the first time you can set the difficulty first:
g_skill x
(where x is one of the following):
0 (recruit)
1 (marine)
2 (veteran)
3 (nightmare)
just the number without words.
I am trying to fix it but can´t promise anything.
so for now be aware that sadly my workaround won´t let you play the whole campaign.
apologies I was too optimistic while testing the other day...
seems because it´s a customized Guardian Boss with some added functions and scripts CST mod has some major problems with it because the CST engine is just expecting the normal Guardian like in Doom 3 but this one is a bit different.
by the look of things it will not be that easy to fix this sadly.
I will try some other "workarounds" but I think the best would be if the author of CST mod would make a proper CST Lost Mission version.
too bad because otherwise it was working nicely up to that point...oh well I tried.
I got it to stop crashing and the level worked fine otherwise but then the final boss wouldn´t spawn....
it may be possible to fix the Guardian issue but it requires a lot of extra trial and error work I don´t think I am gonna waste more time on this tbh but maybe someone else will try and succeed…who knows…
if you just want corrected crosshairs for LM you can use the zpakratioUI packs from Redux mod.
just insert them in d3le then you use a autoexec.cfg with your custom resolution and it kinda works, not as nice as CST but better than without.
