doom 3 (just doom3) wont launch

i just purchase the game and it wont launch. my pc is a window 10 and i am using steam. pls help

ok, when i try to launch the game, it state that it was running, but the (ready to player) box did not appear. then the running statement stop and the game did not launch. i waited for 22 min and nothing happen. i think it call crash upon start up or something.

look for textfile doomkey in
.......STEAM\SteamApps\common\Doom 3\base\doomkey

Your key must be in doomkey!! - if not copie your key into doomkey!!


The autoexec.cfg is a config file!!! All ingame settings and more can be done!!!

With the cfg file, I've created a Doom-3 configuration with Ultra setting and with everything turned off, which could make problems on the new PC with Windows 10 64!!

Make a profile for your graphic card!

If you do all you can read in the guide, first without mods, it must work! 99,999999%

i am sorry. i at well be a old man with pc system. i got to the doomkey part.
but i have no idea about another keys. what is this key anyway. A software.
bought the game from steam electronicly.

Just use the sourceport called dhewm.
Just extract anywhere you want.

Then goto:

F:\Steam\steamapps\common\Doom 3

and copy the base folder to dhewm.

Then you don't need steam to launch the game and no key issues plus other compatability issues and bugs are fixed.

i only have the regular doom 3 those. just doom 3 and no mod. i try your last advice and found the doomkey file. although i dont known where or what is the key you was talking about.

If you use the RMB in your Steam Bibliothek, you finde something like "show productkey"!
This key must be in "doomkey" file.
Normaly it should be there after installation, done by steam.
If it is not, make it !!
Maybe deinstall and new installation may help!!
But you need my autoexec.cfg, because doom 3 will not start if some settings are not set!

If it is working, use Doom 3 bfg Hi Def mod to vanilla Doom 3!!
This is not a "Mod" this are only the better graphic files from Doom 3 BFG edition!

You need my autoexec.cfg, because doom 3 will often not start if some settings are not set!

Go to: -- ?? ---\STEAM\steamapps\common\Doom 3\base

- make new Textdocument
- rename in autoexec.cfg

-copie my cfg-File by marking the Text, starting under "Autoexec.cfg:" in the Guide!
