Doom 3 Perfected/Absolute HD mod bug

Does anyone else have issues with fire/explosions in the game? Whenever there is a fire or imps throw fireballs at me, they look like distorted reflections from a mirror. They don't look like fire at all.

It's supposed to be that way. Looks really stupd to me however, it's Doom not Crysis.

It is a GPU incompatibility bug. Do you use AMD/Radeon graphics?

There is an enhancement called "sikkmod", which adds a lot of modern touch to the game, unfortunately this in particular causes the trouble. Another one is called "parallax". They both dislike AMD/Radeon a lot, though I have seen some nVidia users also post regarding issues.

Unfortunately "Sikkmod" and "Parallax" are hardcoded into these HI-Q mods. There are some cheap tricks, but y'know how it is with cheap tricks, it is as good as fooling oneself. Nonetheless, try with this, for example - taken from "Redux" mod descriptions - link HERE.

Where it stands:

Perfected Doom 3 is crap due to FOV 90 scripted to weapons, overall unbalance and ridicioulus weapon fire mods.

I preffer Doom1/2+Project Brutality for Slaughterfest, while Doom 3 is best as survival horror.

Sikkmod is also hardcoded to Overthinked Doom 3, but no matter it is Doom 3 or Quake 4, properly set Sikkmod made those games looking like movies.

Open it on smartphone and copy/paste into sikkmod settings.

As you have AMD card, ensure you changed "Doom 3.exe" in game directory to "Doom3.exe"

I did play Redux with Sikkmod options on and I do know how much the Sikkmod does improve the gameplay experience, but it was with my Radeon R7 turned off via the device manager, basing solely on Intel HD 620 card. I have a laptop with hybrid graphics. Perhaps the PCs with only one single AMD graphic card behave in a different manner, so that the trick works for them. It is known that hybrid graphics computers are quirky.

Ouuuhhchh , that changes everything .... Dedicated AMD GPUs have problems, integrated ones do not help for sure ...
